Fantasy Football Scout contributor Pras highlighted one biggest talking points ahead of the Gameweek 26 deadline. Many within the community flocked to Wolves attacker Hwang Hee Chan knowing he had the perfect fixture against a poor Sheffield United.
Others decided to back Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. This was because he plays in Blank Gameweek 29. Those that chose against Luiz were some of the same people who scrutinised his underlying stats and potential.
It is fair to say that no one expected Luiz to produce what he did against Nottingham Forest this week. Luiz hit a massive 15 points due to his brace ad three bonus which triggered a mass purchase on Saturday night. Those looking to bring in a player for Blank Gameweek 29 could now have enough confidence to back the Aston Villa penalty taker.
@FPLCrateDigger
Crate Digger highlighted some key performances this week and another Aston Villa player was amongst them. Nottingham Forest couldn’t deal with the offensive ability of the Aston Villa attack and as a result folded in a 4-2 loss.
Joining his teammate Douglas Luiz amongst the success this week was Leon Bailey. The Jamaican was another player that fell in the shadows of Hwang in terms of investment this week. Bailey registered a goal and an assist which helped him to a cool 12 points.
The big conversation around Bailey ahead of the deadline was mainly concerns around his minutes moving forward. However, he played the full 90 minutes in Gameweek 26 which could see his appeal increase dramatically ahead of Gameweek 29.
@FplMode
Andy picked up on another significant trend in the FPL community. Brighton dominated Everton this week but a goal and a red card saw the Seagulls struggle to get the draw they did from the game.
One of the biggest talking points ahead of kick off was Pervis Estupinan. The Brighton defender failed to start three of his last four matches which is a major issue for owners.
Some looking to sell Estupinan may target Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi who comes in at just £4.5m and has a double Gameweek in 28. Others could even look to Luton wing-back Alfie Doughty who also has two matches in Gameweek 28.
@FPLPricey
FPL Pricey touched upon Manchester City this week. The league holders worked through a frustrating and awkward meeting with Bournemouth this week. It took a touch of talent to force a 1-0 win against the Cherries and that talent was none other than Midfielder Phil Foden.
Foden has proven to be an excellent asset this season but we are entering an interesting period for the Englishman. He faces Manchester United, Liverpool, a Blank in Gameweek 29, Arsenal and then Aston Villa. With a tough schedule ahead, could we see Foden shipped out of fantasy teams?
@FPLfrasier
It has been a tough period for Newcastle. The Magpies have won just one of their last four matches and shipped a huge 12 goals in the process. Because of this many could be looking to target the Newcastle defence moving forward and sell defensive assets like Kieran Trippier.
Another huge factor we have to consider in the round ahead is captaincy. Haaland fell short of many expectations last week with just an assist whilst Saka scored. This could spark a real captaincy debate ahead of the new round as the latter comes up against the worst team in the division.
