FPL Experts Ahead of Gameweek 21

Last modified date

We caught up with some FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 21. The experts included cover a range of different topics from chips and the best players to player and team form and more as we head into the new round.

Catching up with the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 21 could be both fun and insightful. The experts cover some of the key topics ahead of the new round which could help bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

Ed was one of many managers who highlighted Newcastle’ great run of fixtures ahead. The Magpies come up against the likes of Wolves, Bournemouth, and Southampton in their next two matches. They also go into that run having managed five consecutive wins, four clean sheets and 15 goals in their five-previous matches.

Whilst already having penalty taker Alexander Isak (£9.3m) in their sides, some are without an additional attacker. Both Jacob Murphy (£5.1m) and Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) have been excellent recently. The latter may even offer better security of minutes. For those looking into defence, look no further than full-back Lewis Hall (£4.8m). Hall has produced an impressive seven returns in his last five games.

Manchester City won their second consecutive match in Gameweek 20, after pushing West Ham aside in their 4-1 win. Pep Guardiola’ men appear to be showing flickers of their previous relentless form and come up against Brentford and Ipswich in their next two matches.

Those who feel confident about re-investing in Manchester City once more, have a variety of assets to pick from. Although underwhelming defensively, the frontline is filled with some great picks like Savio (£6.4m), who created three assists in his last game. Fellow midfielder Phil Foden (£9.2m) could be an alternative considering his recent form.

Most focus will be on Erling Haaland (£14.8m) who bagged a brace in Gameweek 20. The Norwegian has been out of sorts for a while now. So it may take more than several goals to convince managers, especially at his price-point.

One player who is causing some frustration within the community is Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson (£8.2m). After failing to start in Gameweek 19, and starting but blanking in the previous round, Jackson appears to be pushing managers to the brink.

Chelsea have dropped points in their last three matches, which suggests something isn’t right. The Blues clash with Bournemouth and Wolves in their next two games, but will that be enough for owners to keep him?

@Pras_fpl

Pras highlighted the exceptional Bryan Mbeumo (£7.7m) during Gameweek 20. The Brentford talisman once again proved why he is one of the best midfield assets in the game, after racking up a whopping 19 point against Southampton.

It wasn’t just Mbeumo who starred though, teammate striker Yoane Wissa (£6.2m). Wissa banked 11 points for both scoring and assisting.

FPL managers are likely to be looking at both for the period ahead. Although the Bees meet with Manchester City and Liverpool in the next two games, they then go onto face Crystal Palace, Tottenham and West Ham immediately after that.
