There was a lot of hope around Arsenal’ Gameweek 17 fixture against Crystal Palace. Those hopes were met with despair after the 23rd minute, when star man and penalty taker Bukayo Saka (£10.6m) picked up an injury, and was eventually seen leaving the stadium on crutches.
FPL managers are now scrambling for a replacement, one that can weather the intense winter period ahead. Some are already looking to Manchester United penalty taker Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m), who seems to have picked up form recently. Other managers are considering Tottenham penalty taker Son Heung-Min (£9.8m)

Marcin was one of many within the community celebrating yet another huge return for Alexander Isak (£8.9m). Newcastle faced off with promoted side Ipswich last week, a side who ranked as one of the worst in the league for total big chances conceded heading into the round, and that showed.
The Magpies dismantled Ipswich 4-0 away from home, and their striker bagged a hattrick, helping him to a massive 17 points. That total made it his third double-digit haul in a four-match period, highlighting that he is one of the most essential player to own in FPL right now. This week he faces Aston Villa, which could see him continue his explosive form.

It wasn’t just Isak who stole the show in Gameweek 17. Drama also took a hold of the Aston Villa v Manchester City fixture. A meeting with current Champions Manchester City, put many off starting their Aston Villa assets.
However, knowing how poor Manchester City have been, some went the other way, and started the likes of midfielder Morgan Rogers (£5.3m) and striker Ollie Watkins (£8.9m). Whilst the latter blanked, Rogers created a goal and an assist, resulting in a 14-point return, and sinking the visitors 2-1. Next up for Rogers is Newcastle, and with his recent performance in mind, benching him may be tough for owners.

Two assets caused frustration in the most recent round, causing some doubts around their position in fantasy teams. One of them was Brentford midfielder Bryan Mbeumo (£7.6m), who failed to secure a return against Nottingham Forest. Those who hung onto him may now be looking to sell with the likes of Brighton and Arsenal up next.
Joao Pedro (£5.9m) is another player who continues to cause frustration. The Brighton striker has blanked in three consecutive matches and owners are starting to get disgruntled. Before facing Aston Villa and Arsenal however, the Brazilian has a lovely fixture against a poor Brentford defence.
