FPL Experts Ahead of Gameweek 10

Last modified date

We caught up with some FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 10. The experts included cover a range of different topics from chips and the best players to player and team form and more as we head into the new round.

Catching up with the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 10 could be both fun and insightful. The experts cover some of the key topics ahead of the new round which could help bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

@GianniButtice

Ahead of Gameweek 9 there was a lot of chatter about this week being a good opportunity to utilise the triple captaincy chip. Some like Gianni Buttice couldn’t help themselves, especially considering Manchester City and Erling Haaland (£15.4m) went head-to-head with a woeful Southampton side.

It was a successful start for triple captainers. Haaland netted in his first five minutes of the game but then failed to add to that. Those that didn’t use the chip will feel very happy they didn’t hit the button, whilst looking ahead to the next opportunity for their moment.

Haaland’s recent performances are drawing in a lot of negative attention. The Norwegian costs a lot of money and with just one goal in his last four league games, could some even be debating his position in their teams?

@FPLMarcin

One player who seems to be maintaining fantastic form this season is Chris Wood (£6.5m). The Nottingham Forest penalty taker has notched up a huge seven goals in his first nine matches, making him one of the best performing budget strikers so far.

Wood picked up a huge 13 points in Gameweek 9 but he also suffered what appeared to be a minor knock, something we will have to get confirmation on. If confirmed ready for Gameweek 10 Wood faces a home match against a poor West Ham defence. This could be a great opportunity to bring him in and take advantage of his form.

FPL managers also had high hopes for Aston Villa assets ahead of the previous round. Unai Emery’s men went into the meet with an inconsistent Bournemouth off the back of netting at least two goals in all five of their prior matches.

Aston Villa struck first in their 1-1 draw. However, both forward Ollie Watkins (£9.1m) and Morgan Rogers (£5.4m) failed to contribute towards it. FPL managers may be slightly concerned on their upcoming schedule. As well as facing Tottenham next, they immediately play Liverpool in the match after. But, they then go onto clash with Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Brentford and Southampton. So, owners have a tough decision to make.

@FPLFocal

Brentford’s dramatic 4-3 win over Ipswich gave us plenty of information last week. Star man and penalty taker Bryan Mbeumo (£7.7m) continued his excellent form for the Bees after scoring twice to rake in a huge 15 points.

Another key performance came via Brentford striker Yoane Wissa (£5.9m) who recently returned from injury. The Congo international bagged 10 points for his goal and assist, and with great fixtures ahead, some, including Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6m) owners, maybe considering the switch.
