FPL Expert Reactions to the Rule Changes
Official Fantasy Premier League Fantasy has launched for the 24/25 season. For that reason we continue to churn out coverage around the build up. In this article we take a look at FPL expert reactions to the rule changes.
Changes to Fantasy Premier League are not common and many within the community have been asking for change for some time now. The overall reaction to the changes were largely positive but what do they mean for FPL managers?

One of the new changes includes the bonus point system. The structure has now changed which means extra bonus for winning fouls and taking shots on target. Content creator Hibbo reacted to the news by creating a wonderful graphic.
His graphic showed that players including Darwin Nunez, Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak would certainly benefit from the new shots on target change. Midfielders who are likely to benefit from both metrics include the likes of Phil Foden, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise.

Fran was also amongst the managers interested by the new shots on target change to the bonus point system. He plucked out a list of players who had the most shots on target in the Premier League last season.
The Manchester City assets dominate but managers continue to debate Erling Haaland and whether to fit him and his £15m price-tag into their Gameweek 1 teams. Aston Villa’ Ollie Watkins had the third most shots on target last season. Watkins currently has more ownership than any other player in the game.
As well as the Liverpool assets already mentioned above Son Heung-Min and Nicolas Jackson make the list. Both players are seemingly going under the radar in terms of ownership, even with the former starting his new season against newly promoted Leicester.

Jian Batra was one of the few who took a realistic view of the new five transfer rule change. FPL managers can now hold up to five free transfers which could be a game changer. However, we also have to be very careful with how we manage this.
As you can see below Jian Batra questions how easy it will be for us to accumulate those five free transfers. He also suggests that weakening the starting XI to strengthen the bench could be the way forward. Doing this of course should limit how many transfers you use when injuries and issues come along.

Frasier also shared his views on the rule changes. One of several factors he detailed was the point highlighting the current wildcard. Managers have access to two wildcards during the FPL season but are they worth less now?
Frasier, like many, believe that more free transfers means that the need for the wildcard has decreased. If managers can save up their transfers then they can make up to five changes which is huge enough to put managers off actually using the wildcard.

One of the massive changes FPL implemented was that of the mystery chip. Fantasy managers will now be given a mystery chip alongside the likes of the wildcard, bench boost, free hit and triple captain. The only thing we do know about the chip is that we don’t find out what it is until January 2025.
Many within the community are playing with different ideas on what the mystery chip might be. FPL Focal suggests that it could give us the ability to switch captaincy, bring on players from the bench and make mid-week transfers which could be fun.
