Notes

  • GW30 was reasonably successful. I undid the damage of GW29 and returned to an OR of ~13K.
  • In the end, wildcarding in GW30 was the best decision for my team. It allowed me to address several defensive issues, transfer in Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland, and fully attack the GW30-GW33 fixtures. Of which, along with FH34, is when I stand to gain most ground compared with managers on a FH29/WC35 strategy.
  • My transfer for GW31 looks relatively straightforward. Bukayo Saka is almost certain to come in for James Maddison, who was an unsuccessful punt on my wildcard.
  • I currently have spare transfers in GW32 and GW33 to deal with Jamaal Lascelles (who has ruptured his ACL) and Malo Gusto, depending on the extent of his injury.
  • Looking ahead to GW31, my goalkeeper for the round will be Caoimhin Kelleher. Despite not doubling in GW37, bringing in a Liverpool defensive asset on my wildcard was a relatively straightforward decision. This was given their run of fixtures up to GW34 and Chelsea’s tricky GW31 matchup, which sees Đorđe Petrović benched.
  • Gabriel and Rayan Aït-Nouri are both locks in my defence. Ideally, Jamaal Lascelles would have been my third defender this week. However, I’m happy to promote Destiny Udogie to my starting XI in light of the Newcastle defender’s injury.
  • In midfield, Saka joins Salah, Cole Palmer, and Son-Heung Min in the starting XI, with budget enabler Alejandro Garnacho once again benched. Captaincy looks fairly straightforward this week, with Salah almost certain to take the armband ahead of Liverpool’s favourable home fixture against Sheffield United.
  • Upfront, Haaland, GW30 hero Alexander Isak and Darwin Nuñez will once again lead the line, with Haaland likely to be my vice captain.
