Gameweek 27 Team Reveal (subject to change)

Notes

  • A deadline day change of mind that resulted in me transferring in Jarrod Bowen instead of Leon Bailey paid off in spades. The West Ham midfielder bagged a hattrick against Brentford and I halved my rank once again, rising to an OR of ~25k.
  • Going into GW27, Alphonse Areola will deputise if Martin Dúbravka fails to regain his place in goal for Newcastle. I currently have no plans to spend an additional transfer on Neto for Bournemouth’s double in GW28, given he, unlike Areola, blanks in GW29.
  • Arsenal have by far the best clean sheet odds this week, with Liverpool ranked fourth. My defence is therefore unchanged from DGW25. I have Gabriel, William Saliba and Virgil van Dijk lining up across the back. Van Dijk may be one to monitor as he was substituted at half time during Liverpool’s FA Cup win against Southampton. Although I’m hoping that was just a precaution/rest.
  • Phil Foden has been in red-hot form in recent weeks. However, he is likely to make way for the prodigal Son (Heung Min) this week as I continue planning for GW29. Although, I am wary that this move may backfire!
  • The rest of my midfield remains unchanged from GW26. Bowen, Richarlison and Bukayo Saka line up alongside Son. Like Foden, Saka is in scintillating form at the moment and is a candidate for captaincy, with Arsenal also near the top for xG this week.
  • My forward line will be led by Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins. Haaland currently shades the captaincy battle with Saka.
  • At the time of writing, Dominic Solanke is also in the starting XI. But, he is a doubt due to a knee injury. This may turn out to be a blessing in disguise (providing Solanke is back in time for DGW28). That is because I currently have a benching headache, with Cole Palmer my first substitute. If Solanke is ruled out this weekend, Palmer will be promoted into the starting XI.
