Notes

  • I’m not even sure when GW21 started or ended! Thankfully, despite captaining Bukayo Saka, I came out of it with a small green arrow up to an OR of ~290k.
  • I’m hoping to save a transfer in preparation for the upcoming double in GW25 and blank in GW26 this week. I will only make a transfer if Erling Haaland looks likely to start against Burnley. I may also consider a move if Gabriel fails to recover from his knock. Neither of my defensive backups are guaranteed to start.
  • Assuming I make no transfers, my goalkeeper and defenders for GW22 will be Alphonse Areola, Pervis Estupiñan, Gabriel and William Saliba. If Gabriel and Charlie Taylor are both out, I will likely replace Jamaal Lascelles with a starting defender. However, I have almost the exact money to bring in Haaland for either Julian Álvarez or Dominic Solanke (at the time of writing, I would only have £0.3 million spare). So, I’m limited to who I could bring in for Lascelles. In addition, There are few stand-out options in the sub-£4.5 million range. Jan Paul van Hecke would probably be the best option. However, I’m not keen on doubling up on the Brighton defence and he’d also likely have to make way in GW25. This is why I’m keen to avoid the move.
  • In midfield, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Richarlison and Saka will all start. Foden and Richarlison are also in contention for the captaincy, with the Spurs midfielder currently my vice-captain.
  • Elsewhere, my GW21 decision to sacrifice Trent Alexander-Arnold in favour of Mohamed Salah looks to have backfired. This is because Salah is injured and so could also miss out on Liverpool’ potential double Gamewek in 25.
  • Upfront, Álvarez, Solanke and Ollie Watkins complete my team. Álvarez is currently taking the armband. I’m not quite sure who I will sell for Haaland. Keeping Álvarez would mean I couldn’t get Kevin De Bruyne once I bring Haaland back in, while transferring out Watkins would give me greater budget flexibility looking ahead to DGW25. Hopefully Haaland isn’t ready to start against Burnley and I can make a more informed move in GW23!
