FPL Community Reactions to Gameweek 10 (Saturday)

Lunchtime kicked off Gameweek 10 with Leicester hosting Arsenal. Over 1.3 million managers bought Jamie Vardy before last weekend, so naturally he went off injured at half time. But at least he’s ok now, available to face one of his favourite opponents – Arsenal.

The problem? Aaron Ramsdale was in goal.

Yes, the Arsenal man made eight saves as the Gunners kept a surprise clean sheet against the Foxes.

Onto the five 3pm matches, where Pep Guardiola has seemingly paused the infamous Pep Roulette. 11 of his squad have started four of their last five league games and – assuming Ederson would’ve started in Gameweek 8 if not for international duty – six would have started all five.

Yet their shock 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace brought no joy to Phil Foden’s new owners or the many managers invested in their defence.

At St James’ Park, Newcastle held Chelsea off for a while until two strikes from wing-back Reece James took the Blues’ backline up to 12 goals so far. With Guardiola passing on his rotation crown onto Thomas Tuchel, some believed it was James’ turn to be benched again. They missed out on a 21-point monster haul.

Owners of team mates Ben Chilwell and Antonio Rudiger still brought in clean sheet points, just slightly tinged with jealousy. Such is their collection of wing-backs, Chelsea were able to sell Tino Livramento – the bargain defender who is quickly becoming an FPL hero.

He has six returns from his last seven matches, grabbing his fourth clean sheet alongside a recent goal and assist.

Two under-pressure managers faced-off in North London, as Tottenham took on Man United. The opening goal was netted by Cristiano Ronaldo, to prevent a fifth successive blank that has resulted in over 1.4 million managers selling him since Gameweek 6.

He went on to assist Edinson Cavani, before Marcus Rashford completed the 3-0 victory in a toxic atmosphere.

A scary day for many. Happy Halloween!
