FPL Challenge Gameweek 32 Best Picks and Team Reveal

As Challengers around the world struggle to put together an entry for the round ahead, we share our FPL Challenge Gameweek 32 Best Picks and Team Reveal to give you an edge.

As well as highlighting the Challenge framework, and the best players in each position, we also bring in fantasy whiz @FPLReaction to reveal his own team and look back on his previous round.

What is the Challenge this Week?

FPL Challenge Gameweek 32

As we can see, the Challenge is ‘All-rounder’. Challengers can pick just one goalkeeper, two defenders, two midfielders, and two forwards.

To pick the seven players, Challengers have an unlimited budget.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the best players you can pick this week.

Goalkeepers

Newcastle’ double Gameweeks against Crystal Palace and Manchester United makes them a key target for Challenger investment this week. Because of that, Nick Pope (£4.9m) stands out as one of the best options between the sticks.

Crystal Palace also play twice this week, but arguably have a tougher double than Newcastle. But, with two attempts at clean sheets, and two opportunities to rack up save points, Dean Henderson (£4.6m) is another goalkeeper who could be high on Challengers shortlist.

If for some reason you want to back a single Gameweek goalkeeper, then there are several who could offer potential. They include Chelsea’ Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) against Ipswich at home, Brighton’ Bart Verbruggen (£4.5m) at home to Leicester, and Nottingham Forest’ Matz Sels (£5.1m) versus Everton at home.

Defenders

A double against Newcastle and Manchester City isn’t exactly ideal for clean sheet potential, but two attempts at a return is just too good to ignore. Daniel Munoz (£5.2m) also has multiple routes to points – he ranks second among defenders for expected goals thus far, and scored in his most recent match. For those looking to double up, then Tyrick Mitchell (£4.8m) could be an option.

Newcastle arguably have better clean sheet chances this week, but maybe less attacking threat from their defensive assets. One of their defenders is Dan Burn (£4.5m) who recently scored in the Cup final. Fellow centre-back Fabian Schar (£5.5m) created an assist in his latest game, so he could also be considered alongside full-backs Kieran Trippier (£5.6m) and Tino Livramento (£4.6m).

There shouldn’t be much appeal outside of double Gameweeks players. However, some who could attract Challengers include Manchester City’ Josko Gvardiol (£6.1m) v Crystal Palace, Brighton centre-back Lewis Dunk (£4.2m) against Leicester, and Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk (£6.5m) versus West Ham.

Midfielders

FPL Challenge Gameweek 32

Whilst Newcastle’ double Gameweek may be easier from an attacking perspective, they are lacking in viable midfield options. Crystal Palace on the other hand have both Ismaila Sarr (£5.7m) and Eberechi Eze (£6.8m) to choose from. Sarr has banked two double-digit hauls in his previous four games, whilst Eze bagged two assists in his most recent match.

Two matches and a very efficient frontline still makes Newcastle a good option offensively. Their standout option Anthony Gordon (£7.4m) hasn’t played since Gameweek 27, so could be a risk. So, Jacob Murphy (£5m) could be the go-to pick. Murphy hit a whopping 16 points for his two goals in Gameweek 31.

The midfield options are less convincing in terms of doublers, so backing single Gameweek players could be viable. The best of the bunch in terms of fixture difficulty may just be Chelsea penalty taker Cole Palmer (£10.7m) against an awful Ipswich defence.

Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) could also be high on Challengers shortlist against West Ham. Others we could consider include Aston Villa’ Morgan Rogers (£5.6m) v Southampton and Arsenal’ Bukayo Saka (£10.4m) against Brentford.

Forwards

Two home matches against inconsistent defences, could make Newcastle penalty taker Alexander Isak (£9.5m) an essential. The Swedish international has been confirmed to be ‘100% fit’ by manager Eddie Howe, so he’ll likely add to the 20 goals and five assists already banked this season.

Another player who could be considered non-negotiable by Challengers is Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.7m). The Crystal Palace penalty taker may face two tough away fixtures, but he heads into them having managed at least one return in five of his last six games.

For those brave enough to back against the ‘big two’, Chelsea’ Nicolas Jackson (£7.7m) versus Ipswich, Brighton’ Joao Pedro (£5.6m) against Leicester, and Aston Villa’ Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) v Southampton could all be alternatives.

Team Reveal

FPL Challenge Gameweek 32
  • This week feels very straight forward for me, and it didn’t take long to settle on a team, probably under a minute. The template will be strong this week.
  • Isak and Mateta will be a shoo-in this week assuming they’re both fit. The former will also be the most popular captain.
  • Defence is also straight forward with both Munoz and a Newcastle defender. The confusion could come when deciding that Newcastle defender though, I’m between Schar and Burn. You could also take an aggressive approach by ignoring Munoz and tripling up on the Newcastle defence.
  • Midfield is also set. Although I do also like Gordon if starting the first match, and Murphy. I could even back Palmer.

Gameweek 31 Review

  • Last week went badly. I ended on 21 points with a round rank of 90k, and dropped to 600th in the world rankings.
  • Arsenal not keeping a clean sheet wasn’t ideal as I effectively tripled up with captaincy. I also decided to go aggressive with the Spurs defence and back a triple up. Tottenham went onto concede in the 90th minute, so that goal was a monumental swing.
  • Not backing Newcastle defence was the final nail in my coffin.
  • Munoz was my only saving grace after scoring.
  • Good luck this week!
