What is the Challenge this week?

The Challenge for Gameweek 28 is ‘Double Down’.
Assistant Managers earn double points.
Budget is £100m and Challengers have to select 10 players and one manager.
You can also own up to five assets from each club.
Goalkeepers

Liverpool host Southampton this week, which is a fixture a large proportion of Challengers will be looking to invest in. The Saints are the worst defence in the league in terms of goals scored, so backing Alisson Becker (£5.5m) could be a straight forward decision this week.
For those un-convinced by Liverpool’ defence this week, then there are plenty of other options. One of them includes Chelsea’ Filip Jørgensen (£4.2m). The Blues aren’t exactly prolific when it comes to picking up clean sheets, but they face Leicester in the round ahead. This could give them an opportunity to keep their second clean sheet on the bounce.
Challengers could also consider Crystal Palace’ Dean Henderson (£4.5m) for his match at home against Ipswich, and Everton’ Jordan Pickford (£5.1m) against Wolves.
Defenders

Liverpool rank as one of the best defences in the league, so a game against a poor Southampton could be difficult to ignore, especially in the case of Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m). No defender has created more chances or big chances than the Liverpool full-back this season.
Doubling or even tripling up on the Liverpool defence could be hugely rewarding this week. Another great option in Arne Slot’ backline is centre-back Virgil Van Dijk (£6.4m). The Dutchman is the safest route into the defence, but he also offers some threat from set pieces.
Leicester rank among the worst sides in the league for multiple attacking metrics, which makes the Chelsea defence considerably appealing this week. Their most exciting defender is full-back Marc Cucurella (£5.1m), who scored in his previous match.
Other options including Arsenal centre-back Gabriel (£6.3m) v Manchester United, Crystal Palace’ Daniel Munoz (£5m), and Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.7m) for his game against Everton, are also viable picks.
Midfielders

Liverpool go into their match against Southampton having dominated most attacking metrics up until this point. In addition, no other side have conceded more goals or big chances than Southampton. With that in mind, and taking into account his relentless form, penalty taker Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) could be both a shoo-in and a standout captaincy pick for Challengers.
Doubling up on the Liverpool attack could prove rewarding this week. Another route into the Liverpool frontline is of course Luis Diaz (£7.5m), who has managed two goals and one assist in his previous four matches.
Only Southampton have conceded more goals than Leicester so far this season. Because of this, backing Chelsea attackers should be a shoo-in this week. Penalty taker Cole Palmer (£11.1m) is the obvious pick, but both Pedro Neto (£6.2m) and Christopher Nkunku (£6.2m) could also have huge potential.
There is an abundance of great midfielder options to pick from this week. Among them is Bournemouth’ Justin Kluivert (£6.1m) against Spurs, Brentford’ Bryan Mbeumo (£8m) versus Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace maestro Eberechi Eze (£6.7m).
Forwards

The injury to Crystal Palace’ Jean Phillipe Mateta and Newcastle’ Alexander Isak are from ideal. That along with the recent suspension of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, seems to have created a shortage of viable striker options this week. However, if any of Mateta or Isak start, then they could be a shoo-in based on their recent form.
Another player we could consider this week is Erling Haaland (£14.7m). Having seemingly faded into the shadows from an investment perspective recently, the Norwegian could well become popular again. The Manchester City penalty taker heads into his clash with Nottingham Forest after returning in five of his previous six games.
Unbeaten in their last seven games, Everton seem to be maintaining consistency. The Toffees face one of the worst defences in the league next, Wolves. So, backing the in-from Norbert Beto (£5m) could be a nice play.
Other forwards who could spark some interest include Yoane Wissa (£6.4m) of Brentford, Aston Villa’ in-form Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) against Brentford, and Brighton penalty taker Joao Pedro (£5.4m) at home to Fulham.
Assistant Managers

There is no doubt that Arne Slot (£1.5m) could be the safest manager to pick this week. Managing the best team in the league against the worst side in the league holds huge potential when it comes to securing a win, goals, and a clean sheet.
If you aren’t keen on Slot this week, or even Chelsea’ Enzo Maresca (£1.5m) up against his former club, then there are some high risk/high reward options to consider with table bonus.
Of those managers Ange Postecoglu (£1.1m) against Bournemouth at home could be an option. Challengers could even back the likes of Manchester United’ Ruben Amorim (£0.8m) against Arsenal, Ipswich’ Kieran McKenna (£0.5m) against Crystal Palace, or West Ham’s Graham Potter (£0.5m) for his game against Newcastle.
@FPLReaction Team Reveal

- I found the assistant managers with table bonus underwhelming this week, so I have gone safe with Slot.
- This gave me four Liverpool slots to fill, with two in attack and two in defence for balance. If Salah gest rested this week due to Champions League I’ll likely swap him for either Justin Kluivert or Cody Gakpo. If not Gakpo then I’ll be able to take out another defensive asset and bring in Virgil Van Dijk. Maxing out on Liverpool is a shoo-in for me this week.
- I don’t mind Chelsea this week, although I’m not fully convinced. I’ll still likely own a triple up just in case. Palmer is likely to take the armband if Salah misses out.
- Isak will be in if fit, if not then I may bring in Haaland.
- The Liverpool line-up will be key for me!
Gameweek 27 Challenge Review

- Last week was insane for me, literally all but one of my players returned. Picking Chelsea double points over every other team worked out well. The only complete failure was of course my captain Cole Palmer who didn’t do anything.
- I ended the week with 129 points, which meant a round rank of 2k. This actually halved my global rank from 800th to 400th!
- It was a great previous round, just imagine if I got captaincy right!
- My aim is top 200 this week, good luck!
