FPL Challenge Gameweek 25 Tips and Team Reveal

Last modified date

In this article, we present to you our FPL Challenge Gameweek 25 tips and team reveal. As well as picking out some of the best players for the round ahead specific to the Challenge structure we also bring in @FPLReaction to share his team and thoughts ahead of the new round.

FPL Challenge Gameweek 25 is here. With exciting new badges to earn and prizes to win FPL Challenge have made some massive changes. With that in mind our tips and team reveal could be exactly what you need to have success.

What is the Challenge this week?

The Challenge for Gameweek 25 is ‘The Assistant Manager GW2’.

You can play an Assistant manager this week.

Budget is £100m and Challengers have to select 10 players and one manager.

You can also own up to five players from each club

Top Picks – Goalkeepers

FPL Challenge Gameweek 25

Liverpool have a double Gameweek ahead. The Reds come up against strugglers Wolves and an inconsistent Aston Villa side. With that in mind, backing the Liverpool defence could be hugely rewarding this week, and one route into the backline is of course Alisson Becker (£5.5m).

Two sides play twice this week and the other is Aston Villa. Because of that, naturally, investing in them feels inevitable. With potential rotation at full-back, and question marks over Ezri Konsa due to injury, Emiliano Martinez (£5m) seems like one of very few safe routes into the defence.

For those unconvinced by the double Gameweek goalkeepers on offer, then Arsenal’ David Raya (£5.5m) could be a great pick against Leicester. Bournemouth’ Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.5m) v Southampton and Nottingham Forest’ Matz Sels (£5m) v Fulham could also take Challengers fancy.

Defenders

FPL Challenge Gameweek 25

Only two sides have managed to keep 10 clean sheets so far this season and Liverpool are one of them. For that reason, buying into their backline could be crucial this week. With some doubts around Trent Alexander-Arnold, and rotation in other areas of defence, Virgil Van Dijk (£6.4m) stands out as the safest option in terms of minutes. He also found the net in a recent Cup game against Tottenham.

Of course, those that want to take a risk with Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) can. The full-back may or may not start both as he recovers from his recent injury, but he sits above every other defender in the game for non-penalty expected goal involvement thus far this campaign, so it could be worth taking the plunge.

Buying into the Aston Villa defence, even with two matches ahead has its risks due to rotation and injuries. However, full-back Lucas Digne (£4.6m) could be worth the risk. Only the previous player has produced more big chances than Digne going into games against Ipswich and Liverpool, so he too has multiple routes to points.

Single Gameweek defenders with potential include Arsenal’ Gabriel (£6.3m) against Leicester, Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez (£5m) v Southampton, and Crystal Palace full-back Alex Munoz (£4.8m) v Everton.

Midfielders

No player is arguably more essential than Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) this week. The relentless Egyptian faces a Wolves side who rank third worst for total goals conceded this season, and a ropey Aston Villa defence, which could be two fantastic opportunities for him to continue his excellent form.

The Liverpool midfield doesn’t offer much stability in terms of minutes outside of Salah. However, one player who seems to keep starting for the Reds is Luis Diaz (£7.5m). The Colombian may have blanked in his previous five games, but a double Gameweek offers two chances to bounce back.

Ipswich rank second worst in the league for total big chances conceded, so whilst a game against Liverpool could be tough from an attacking perspective, Unai Emery and his men have huge potential against the Tractor Boys. Their safest and arguably most effective midfielder is of course Morgan Rogers (£5.6m), who many will consider as a shoo-in this week.

Challengers could take a risk with new Aston Villa signing Marcus Rashford (£6.6m), but single Gameweek midfielders like Bournemouth’ Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m) and Justin Kluivert (£5.9m) for their match against Southampton, Brentford’ Bryan Mbeumo (£7.9m) v West Ham and Chelsea’ Cole Palmer (£11.2m) against Brighton could be brilliant alternatives.

Forwards

FPL Challenge Gameweek 25

Liverpool have maintained better underlying attacking metrics than any other side this season. Because of that and the double ahead, buying into the attack, outside of the heavily owned Salah, will be essential for many. The standout pick who fits the bill is Dutchman Cody Gakpo (£7.6m), who has bagged four goals and one assist in his previous five games.

One risk Challengers could take is Aston Villa’ Ollie Watkins (£8.9m). The frontman has been suffering due to a minor injury as of late. But, if Challengers see him in the starting XI against Ipswich, then he could be an easy inclusion.

Everton may have improved considerably over the previous several games under David Moyes, but they are still leaking goals. This could be a perfect opportunity for the in-from Jean Philippe Mateta (£7.3m) to strike. The Frenchman has collected an impressive six goals in his previous six matches.

Other viable striker options include Brentford’ Yoane Wissa (£6.3m), Newcastle’ in-form Alexander Isak (£9.5m) for his match against Manchester City, and Chris Wood (£7.1m) of Nottingham Forest who faces Fulham.

Managers

FPL Challenge Gameweek 25

Coming off the back of securing 15 points in the previous round, Arne Slot (£1.5m) seems like the obvious option for Challengers. Matches against Wolves and Aston Villa, should mean two good chances of winning, scoring and keeping a clean sheet.

Aston Villa’ Unai Emery (£0.8m) could be another fantastic option. The Villains face Ipswich at home which could see plenty of potential, and a tough meeting with Liverpool which may also offer table bonus for Challengers.

Fulham’ Marco Silva (£1.1m) against Nottingham Forest could be another great pick for table bonus, along with Arsenal’ Mikel Arteta (£1.5m) v Leicester.

@FPLReaction Team Reveal

  • This is my current set-up.
  • There are limited defender picks this week, so I thought I would take a punt on a defensive double up from both Liverpool and Aston Villa.
  • If Trent Alexander-Arnold starts the first match, then I will probably have a reshuffle.
  • Midfield feels pretty set. I also liked the idea of Semenyo, but replacing one of the above seems like a tough decision.
  • Gakpo is a shoo-in, but if Watkins starts I could be tempted to shuffle the pack.
  • A lot of the above rests on Trent and Watkins starts. It could be carnage if they both start the first match.

Gameweek 24 Challenge Review

  • Last week was poor to put it bluntly. Most of my single Gameweek picks didn’t return, Trent picked up an injury, and Liverpool only kept one clean sheet.
  • I managed 115 points, which gave me a round rank of 111k. This dropped me outside of the top 1k, to 1.2k.
  • The drop was mainly due to David Moyes, Beto and my single Gameweek players blanking, so I need to bounce back this week!
