FPL Challenge Gameweek 11 is here. With exciting new badges to earn and prizes to win FPL Challenge have made some massive changes. With that in mind our tips and team reveal could be exactly what you need to have success.
What is the Challenge this week?
The Challenge for Gameweek 9 is ‘Accuracy’.
Players will receive three points for each shot on target.
Challengers can also do the above with an unlimited budget.
Top Picks – Goalkeepers
Firstly, trying to pick out a goalkeeper with potential to have a shot on target is difficult. In fact, it would be much more practical to select a goalkeeper who has clean sheet and save potential this week.
With the above in mind, it could be worth considering Andre Onana. The departure of former manager Erik ten Hag could be the change Manchester United need to turn their poor form on its head.
Leicester lay ahead for the Red Devils next, who rank second worst in the league for total shots on target. Another factor that may influence their clean sheet odds is Onana’s shot-stopping ability – he ranks second best amongst all goalkeepers for expected goals prevented this season.
There are plenty are plenty of other options who could do well between the sticks this week. Challengers could also back Wolves man Jose Sa, as he comes head-to-head with a poor Southampton side.
It would also be difficult to rule out Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario. Although inconsistent defensively, similar to most teams in the league, Vicario faces an Ipswich side who continue to maintain some of the worst attacking metrics in the league.
Other good options could include Everton’s Jordan Pickford against West Ham, Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher versus Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest’s Matz Selz as he faces Newcastle.
Defenders
In defence, the shots on target metric is much more influential. Leading the way for that metric is Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol with seven. The Croatian also goes into the new round against Brighton after scoring three goals in his last five league matches.
One player who may go under the radar this week is Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock. The Bees have a meeting with Bournemouth next up and only Gvardiol could better their centre-back for total shots on target.
Tottenham could be one of the most popular sides in terms of investment going into the new round. A fixture against the worst side in the league for total big chances this season could mean potential for Pedro Porro, he ranks joint fourth for total shots on target (four).
Matching Porro for total shots on target but producing three big chances is Rayan Ait-Nouri. The Wolves full-back heads into a clash against Southampton having netted three goals in his previous five league matches.
Midfielders
Readers may not be surprised to see Mohamed Salah feature. The Egyptian is seven shots on target clear of second place with 19. Liverpool face an Aston Villa side who shipped four goals in Gameweek 10 and Salah has amassed a huge seven goals and five assists going into the game.
Five midfielders sit joint second for total shots on target. Amongst them is Bryan Mbeumo who has netted a huge eight goals in his first 10 league matches. The Brentford attacker faces an inconsistent Bournemouth defence next, which is a good opportunity to add to his tally.
Another standout option going into the Gameweek 11 Challenge is Antoine Semenyo. There are several factor backing the Ghanaian this week. The Cherries clash with Brentford who rank the worst in the league for total shots on target conceded. In addition, although he sits fourth in his position for total shots on target, he eclipses every other midfielder for total attempts on goal.
Set piece taker James Maddison also squeezes into the best in his position for total shots on target. Scoring in his latest league game from a direct free-kick, Maddison will be full of confidence knowing he has a meeting with Ipswich next.
Forwards
Due to their advanced position, forwards are naturally the more effective options in regards to this specific Challenge.
One player who should be a shoo-in for every Challenger this week if fit is Erling Haaland. Not only does the Norwegian rank above every other player in the game for total shots on target but he has also doubled that of second place with 28. Brighton, his next opponent, have shipped at least two goals in all but one of their recent five league matches, which could indicate potential for Manchester’s main man.
Raul Jimenez should be another player that Challengers consider. Fulham seemed to have turned a corner recently after edging Brentford, and they take that confidence into a game against Crystal Palace, who have been inconsistent defensively recently.
As well as conceding more big chances than any other side in the league thus far, Ipswich also rank third worst for total shots on target conceded. This goes hand in hand with the fact that Tottenham go into the game sitting amongst the top two sides for most key attacking metrics. With that in mind Dominic Solanke, who leads the frontline, is difficult to exclude.
Only four shots on target short of second place amongst forwards, Matheus Cunha could also have potential. Wolves have shown they can score goals, as evident in their last nine matches. But, they also meet with a poor Southampton next up. Three goals in his previous five matches shows Cunha has solid form heading into his Gameweek 11 match.
@FPLReaction Team Reveal
- I feel like this is a pretty straight forward week this time out.
- I think that Onana could have both clean sheet and save potential against Leicester this week. So, I’m not sure if he will change before the deadline.
- In defence, although I would like Gvardiol, Porro and others, I feel Rayan Ait Nouri has proven very dangerous in the last several weeks. It’s also very hard to ignore that he plays Southampton this week.
- Mohamed Salah is probably the only midfielder I’m personally interested in this week. Although if pushed Antoine Semenyo would be my second pick.
- Solanke and Haaland feel like essentials this week and captaincy could go either way. Although, Haaland’s elite shots on target tally is giving him the edge currently.
Gameweek 10 Challenge Review
- I felt that last weeks Challenge wasn’t going to be rewarding enough to back defensive players. So, I ended up backing assets I thought would do well anyway.
- My captain blanked which was the biggest issue, because many would have captained Salah.
- In the end I finished the round with 41 points, which gave me a global round rank of 112k.
- Overall I haven’t really moved much, and sit around 21k. I’m hoping to breaking into the top 20k for the first time this season in the round ahead.
