FPL: Buy Sell and Keep for Gameweek 9

Last modified date

The 8th round of Fantasy Premier League is over so we look to the next and look at which players are a buy sell and keep for Gameweek 9. Whether that be through injury, team and player form or other factors we advise the potential fate of assets in your teams.

Looking at players who are a buy sell and keep for Gameweek 9 could be extremely beneficial to FPL managers. Knowing what to do with assets in your team can ultimately bring clarity with transfer use, captaincy and chip strategy.

Buy

  • Everton – Unbeaten in the last four matches the Toffees seem to be picking up form. They have a home game against Fulham this week. Whilst goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (£4.8m) could be a good option, an even cheaper route into the defence is Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m). In attack forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6m) remains an option, albeit short of form. Everton’s most in-form attacker is midfielder Dwight McNeil (£5.8m).
  • Fulham – Fulham go into their nice run of fixtures with two wins in their last four matches. Antonee Robinson (£4.7m) remains the best option in defence, offering both clean sheet and attacking potential. There is more variety in attack with midfielders Emile Smith Rowe (£5.7m) and Andreas Pereira (£5.3m) standing out. Their most potent attacker is striker Raul Jimenez (£5.7m) who picked up a return in each of his last five league games.
  • Manchester City – The current Champions also have some great fixtures, starting with a match against Southampton. Rico Lewis (£4.8m) is the cheapest way into the defence. Offering more goal threat is the more expensive Josko Gvardiol (£6.1m) who has scored twice this season. Erling Haaland (£15.4m) is a shoo-in for a lot of managers but Phil Foden (£9.2m) is becoming more and more appealing.
  • Nottingham Forest – Nottingham Forest have lost just one of their eight matches this season. Leicester away could be a good opportunity to pick up another three points. Goalkeeper Matz Sels (£4.5m) collected an 11-point return in his previous game, whilst Ola Aina (£4.5m) could be there standout defender due to some attacking threat. Midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi (£5.4m) seems short of form currently but teammate and forward Chris Wood (£6.3m) has netted three in his last four matches.
  • Tottenham – The London club go into their game against a poor Crystal Palace off the back of a 4-1 victory against West Ham. Full-back Pedro Porro (£5.5m) maintains some excellent underlying attacking metrics. However, a cheap route into the backline is centre-back Micky van de ven (£4.7m). There are lots of options in attack. Midfielder James Maddison (£7.6m) and Brennan Johnson (£6.7m) could be cheaper options into the frontline. For managers with the funds then the standout option could be penalty taker Son Heung-Min (£9.8m). Leading the attack with three returns in his last four matches is Dominic Solanke (£7.7m).

Sell

  • Bukayo Saka (£10m) – With money tied up, no return date from his injury and facing the best defence in the league up next Saka’s time may be up. There is also plenty of midfield options to choose with the fixtures ahead.
  • Eberechi Eze (£6.7m) – Crystal Palace may have good fixtures. But, the Eagles have been woeful this season. Some may call it unlucky but regardless Eze’s lack of returns this season is a serious concern. With better options elsewhere Eze should be close to the exit door.
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) – A game against Arsenal next up and increasingly difficult fixtures could mean managers sell the Liverpool full-back. He is the most expensive player in the game and his funds could be used elsewhere.
  • Luis Diaz (£7.9m) – Diaz currently sits as one of the highest owned players in the game. But, his failure to start the previous two matches is an issue. As already mentioned, the Reds have a tough fixture this week and Diaz could be switched to a midfield option with better fixtures and expected minutes.
  • Anthony Gordon (£7.3m) – The Newcastle attacker surprisingly has more than 10% ownership in the game. Winless in five matches the Magpies have tough fixtures ahead and Gordon has returned in just two matches this season.

Keep

  • Ollie Watkins (£9.1m) – His schedule may be toughening but Watkins faces a poor Bournemouth defence before that. Managing at least one return in each of his last six matches Watkins appears to be in the middle of a fantastic run of form.
  • Morgan Rogers (£5.4m) – Aston Villa have won all but one of their matches this season in all competitions which shows just how good they have been. A cheap route into the attack is Morgan Rogers. Rogers is one of the best performing budget players in the game as of late. So, even tough fixtures after Bournemouth should not put you off keeping him.
  • Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) – There should be no reason to sell Salah, even with Arsenal ahead. The Egyptian goes into his match against Arsenal off the back of a 12-point return against Chelsea. The Gooners are also without key players this week which could make the fixture more targetable.
  • Cole Palmer (£10.8m) – Chelsea may have suffered a recent set back against Liverpool but fixtures ahead against Newcastle and Manchester United look tougher on paper than they are. The Magpies recent defensive numbers and injury to Bukayo Saka could even tempt some to bring Palmer in this week.
