FPL: Buy Sell and Keep for Gameweek 18

Last modified date

The round of Fantasy Premier League is over so we look to the next and look at which players are a buy sell and keep for Gameweek 18. Whether that be through injury, team and player form or other factors we advise the potential fate of assets in your teams.

Looking at players who are a buy sell and keep for Gameweek 18 could be extremely beneficial to FPL managers. Knowing what to do with assets in your team can ultimately bring clarity with transfer use, captaincy and chip strategy.

Buy

  • Arsenal – Whilst Arsenal defensive assets like goalkeeper David Raya (£5.6m), and centre-backs Gabriel (£6.3m) and William Saliba (£6.3m) remain great picks, their frontline is getting a lot of deserved attention. The injury to Bukayo Saka has made Martin Odegaard (£8.3m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£6.7m) great replacements. But, up front FPL managers could also opt for striker Gabriel Jesus (£6.8m). The Brazilian managed two goals and an assist in his previous match.
  • Chelsea – The Blues still have a lovely run of fixtures, and arguably a better schedule than most other teams. With that in mind, and their recent clean sheet, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (£4.8m) and defender Levi Colwill (£4.6m), could be solid routes into the backline. Cole Palmer (£11.2m) remains one of the highest owned players in the game, but striker Nicolas Jackson (£8.3m) is another great route into the attack. Midfielder Enzo Fernandez (£5.1m) could also be a great budget pick.
  • Crystal Palace – The Eagles are about to come into a great period of fixtures. Between the sticks, Dean Henderson (£4.4m) could be a great cheap goalkeeper. They also have Tyrick Mitchell (£4.8m) up for grabs at the back. He registered an assist each of his last two matches. Whilst Eberechi Eze (£6.6m) recovers from injury, fellow midfielder Ismailla Sarr (£5.7m) could be a brilliant option based on his recent form. Leading the frontline, but arguably short of output recently, is penalty taker Jean-Phillipe Mateta (£7.2m).
  • Liverpool – Top of the the table and with great fixtures ahead, Liverpool remain a priority team for investment. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker (£5.4m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7m) are the standout options at the back due to price and goal threat respectively. In attack, whilst Mohamed Salah (£13.5m) is considered essential by many, fellow midfielder Diogo Jota (£7.2m) could start gathering momentum.
  • Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) and Amad Diallo (£5.3m) – Manchester United may be inconsistent but they have proven fully capable of scoring goals under Ruben Amorim. The Reds face the worst defence in the league next and both players have been their sides most effective attackers.
  • Alexander Isak (£8.9m) – Newcastle may appear to have tough matches on paper ahead, but that isn’t the case from an attacking perspective. Their main man and penalty taker Isak has also been in exceptional form.

Sell

  • Bukayo Saka – After picking up an injury during Gameweek 17, Saka was pictured on crutches, which could suggest he may be out for some time. Even if Saka is out for a short while, having £10.5m tied up in an injured player with excellent alternative options elsewhere could mean falling behind the competition.
  • Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) – After failing to start Aston Villa’ last three games on the bounce, Watkins has started to become a liability for owners. Selling him for an alternative option with better fixtures and minutes is advised.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£7.6m) – Brentford are coming into a difficult period of fixtures ahead. With matches against Brighton and Arsenal in their next two, Mbeumo’ time could be up.
  • Erling Haaland (£14.8m) – Many would have planned to bring the Norwegian in right about now. However, both he and his side have been woeful as of late. So, spending well over £14m for one asset who isn’t performing should be avoided.

Keep

  • Antoine Semenyo (£5.6m) and Justin Kluivert (£5.5m) – Bournemouth have really impressed recently – winning four of their last five matches. They also play Crystal Palace this week, which could be a great opportunity for them both to repeat their Gameweek 17 performances.
  • Joao Pedro (£5.9m) and Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – Both players have been extremely disappointing. But, they face Brentford next. The Bees have conceded more shots on target than any other side this season. So, both players could have huge potential this week.
  • Fulham – A draw against Southampton and a fixture against Chelsea next up is not enough to sell up. The Cottagers have some great fixtures in Gameweek 19 and onwards. This suggests both their defensive and offensive assets have opportunities to perform.
  • Rico Lewis (£4.6m) – The Manchester City youngster has been frustrating as of late. But, at his price, it’s difficult to complain. After his ban this week Lewis comes up against Leicester, West Ham, Brentford and Ipswich. All four matches could see him back amongst the returns.
  • Tottenham – Ange Postecoglu’ men have good fixtures ahead. For those that don’t need the money then keeping their assets could be wise. But, for those desperate to make crucial upgrades elsewhere, then it could be worth selling them.
  • Matheus Cunha (£7.1m) – With the help of ‘new manager bounce’ Wolves convincingly won their latest match. Amongst the goals was their main man and penalty taker Cunha. Facing a ropey Manchester United defence up next, with Tottenham immediately after, it could be too early to ditch him.
