In this article we focus on the best replacements for Salah and Son in FPL. To do this, we will access the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area to utilise the fixture difficulty ticker, underlying stats and some other of its fantastic tools.
Finding the best replacements for Salah and Son in FPL as they depart for AFCON and the Asia Cup will be absolutely crucial for managers. Both have been the two most consistent assets in the game this season so replacing them could be tough.
Richarlison
Tottenham could be one of the best teams to head to when looking at best replacements for Son and Salah. They sit fifth in the league after winning four of their last five matches and currently rank third best for goals scored, third for total attempts on goal and third best for shots in the box.
Below we can see that Tottenham face Manchester United, Brentford, Everton and Brighton in the next four Gameweeks (the period that Son and Salah could miss). All four of their upcoming opposition have shown huge defensive fragilities over recent weeks.
Leading the Tottenham frontline is Richarlison (£6.8m). Although the Brazilian had a rough start to life at Tottenham his recent form suggests an uptake in confidence. In fact, In his last five league matches Richarlison has banked at least one return in four – scoring in all of the same games.
Jarrod Bowen
For those looking for a more consistent replacement then this could be the one for you.
After a poor patch in November West Ham look back to their best as they perch sixth in the league. In terms of recent form the Hammers have claimed four wins in their last five matches in all competitions, beating the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. They also notched up 2-3 goals in four of the same five games.
West Ham are in top scoring form going into the run of fixtures they have below. Amongst the opposition ahead includes two of the worst overall defences in the league this season in terms of goals conceded, a recently inconsistent Manchester United backline and an Arsenal side they beat recently 2-0.
With the above in mind Jarrod Bowen (£8m) could be an excellent replacement for Son or Salah. Bowen has been exceptional this season and the fact he sits as the fifth highest scoring player (at the time of writing) is reflective of that. Most of Bowen’ 108 points come from an impressive 11 goals and two assists.
Phil Foden
Manchester City are another interesting team we could look to. The league holders seem to be creeping back into a good run of form with four wins on the bounce in all competitions. It is also worth highlighting that Manchester City are still the highest scorers in the league currently this season.
In terms of their schedule it looks very good. Manchester City face a Newcastle side who rank as one of worst sides in the league defensively recently, a woeful Burnley side, Brentford who have lost all of their last five matches and Everton who have conceded 2-3 goals in their last three league games.
Phil Foden (£7.8m) is evidently becoming a vital cog for his side, we can see that in his recent gametime. In terms of actual output Foden has managed at least one return in four of his last six games including two goals and three assists.
Cole Palmer
Some may already own our next pick but for those that don’t it may still be a great time to bring him in.
Chelsea have improving recently winning three of their last four league matches. But, more importantly the Blues are scoring goals – netting 2-3 in the same three matches they won. It could be also worth emphasising that Chelsea also sit second best in the league this season for expected goals which boosts the appeal of their frontline.
We can see that Chelsea face a Fulham side who have conceded 2-3 goals in three of their last four matches, a Liverpool defence who have kept one clean sheet in their last four matches, an inconsistent Wolves backline and a Crystal Palace side who have won just one of their last nine games.
Chelsea have good attacking potential ahead and Cole Palmer (£5.6m) is the player who can benefit. Palmer takes penalties unlike some of the other options we have however we also have to acknowledge how good he can be from open play. In fact Palmer has collected huge 33 points in his last three games including three goals and two assists without a a penalty taken.
