The busy festive schedule is finally over, so expect full strength teams from Gameweek 23 onwards.
Front Runners
Chelsea have emerged as the leading team following the busy Christmas period. They are unbeaten in their last 4 games and don’t face any tricky fixtures in their next 4.
The defence have been successful in keeping a number of clean sheets in recent weeks, although there’s been plenty of rotation in their back line of late. Marcos Alonso is expensive but has been in fantastic form.
Many of the attacking options have failed to deliver, but Eden Hazard remains a strong option from Gameweek 23 onwards. Alvaro Morata has been in woeful form and has failed to convert seemingly easy chances.
Form Teams
A number of teams greet Gameweek 23 with an unbeaten record: the top performers over the last 4 are Manchester City, Spurs and Liverpool.
Stones is back as a budget option in the Manchester City defence. Sergio Aguero is set for a run in the forward spot with Jesus out injured, plus Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are still consistent performers.
Those who invested in Spurs are likely to hold those assets at least for the next two games. Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Son are all delivering a share of attacking returns. The defence are still struggling for clean sheets, with an ongoing long term injury to Adlerweireld.
For Liverpool, wait for Van Dijk to settle in before spending in defence. Clean sheets are on the horizon. The attack is difficult to pin down, with Salah injured and speculation on the future of Coutinho. Firmino looks to be a better option than Mane right now.
Fixture Teams
Arsenal and West Ham have the best run of upcoming fixtures. Those who invested in West Ham for the double gameweek are likely to hold those assets for Gameweek 23. Adrian and Masuaku are the key players in defence, alongside Lanzini in attack.
For Arsenal, there’s plenty of speculation regarding some of their star players in the transfer window. Bellerin is the best options from the fit defenders. Sanchez, Ozil and Lacazette are delivering in attack.
