Fantasy5 FFS Challenge: FPL Marc’s Week 3 Reveal
In mid-November, Fantasy Football Scout unveiled a nine-week battle that pits ten staff members and Pro Pundit experts against each other in Fantasy5. To determine who truly has the best eye for a Fantasy player, the FFS Challenge mini-league will take place between Gameweeks 12 and 20.
A small prize is up for grabs but, more importantly, so is bragging rights. The challenge requires picking a player from each of the week’s five selected matches who you think will exceed their assigned ‘points target’ (par score). The more players that do so, the better.
Get yourself involved here at Fantasy5 for a chance to win a potential £10,000 prize. It is free and very simple to play, following the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points. Full terms and conditions are here.
For each round, Fantasy Football Community will have an in-depth team reveal from one participant.
Week 3: FPL Marc
- Wolves v Burnley
- Southampton v Leicester
- Brighton v Leeds
- Tottenham v Brentford
- Man United v Arsenal
I am still without a correct call after two Gameweeks, although nobody in the FFS Challenge mini-league did so at the weekend and 20% of the games were lost once Burnley vs Tottenham was postponed for snow. Both Trent Alexander-Arnold (9) and Tariq Lamptey (6) were very close to beating their points target, just requiring one more.
I’ve played it extra safe this time around, with four of the five being that match’s most-selected amongst the ten competitors. Raul Jimenez is very generously-priced, considering his three previous starts against Burnley have each brought a goal. Despite Jamie Vardy scoring twice during Leicester’s 4-2 win over Watford, he was outscored in FPL by the 16 points of James Maddison. Perhaps the Foxes won’t beat Southampton 9-0 again but I would back them to leave St Mary’s with all three points.
Deciding which Liverpool player to select was tough, as the points targets are very high. Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane have 12.5, 11.5 and 10.5 respectively, so I plumped for Andrew Robertson because his is one fewer than Trent Alexander-Arnold. Everton? No.
The only choice that wasn’t most-popular was Harry Kane and even he was narrowly pipped by Spurs wing-back Sergio Reguilon. Rested after a free weekend of cancelled football, I foolishly back Kane to get back amongst the goals in Gameweek 14. Completing the line-up is Jadon Sancho, fresh from his first strike of the season and about to work for Ralf Rangnick – a man who has publically spoken about his admiration for the former Dortmund star.
Good luck, everyone!
