Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 4

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at the Fantasy EFL top picks for Gameweek 4. We bring in our expert and regular Fantasy EFL contributor @FPLEdgeworth to reveal his two teams and two of the best picks in each position for the second round.

Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 4 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and top two teams to target are could help you beat your mini-league rivals and secure a good rank.

Goalkeepers – Luke McGee (Tranmere Rovers)

Tranmere Rovers may have won just one of their three league matches thus far but they have maintained one of the best defences across all three leagues. In fact, they have kept a clean sheet in every single one of their matches. This could suggest Luke McGee has good potential this week.

Illan Meslier (Leeds United)

Leeds are another side we could back from a defensive perspective. Since their opening 3-3 draw with Portsmouth Leeds have kept two back-to-back clean sheets in the Championship. Hull are up next who failed to score in their most recent fixture. All of the above combines to make Illan Meslier a top goalkeeper pick this week.

Defenders – Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland)

Sunderland are side Fantasy EFL managers have to seriously consider this week. Their recent win against Burnley made it three wins out of three for them. They have also managed three out of three clean sheets. Full-back Dennis Cirkin seems to be their standout defender pick, especially when you take into account the goal and assist he produced during the same three-match period as above.

Bryant Bilongo (Bristol Rovers)

Bristol Rovers go into their match with two clean sheets in their first three league games. They also play at home against a Cambridge side who have failed to score in two of their three league matches. To benefit from that we could select Bryant Akono Bilongo who scored in Gameweek 1. He has also averaged 9.3 points per game so far.

Midfielders – Daniel Crowley (Notts County)

Notts County seem to have found a rhythm offensively – scoring six goals in their last two matches. They clash with Swindon side who have shipped nine goals in their first four matches. Talisman Daniel Crowley will have huge confidence this week after bagging a huge two goals and one assist in his previous league game.

MID: Kieran Sadlier (Wycombe Wanderers)

Operation target Blackpool looks on this week. In their last two matches Blackpool have conceded a mammoth seven goals and after an impressive 2-0 win against Rotherham recently Wycombe could cause some damage. To take advantage of that we could look to penalty taker Kieran Sadlier who managed a goal and assist in his most recent league match. He also created an assist against the mighty Birmingham in Gameweek 2.

Forwards – Josh Maja (West Bromwich Albion)

West Brom are considerably stronger at home than they are away and it’s the former that they play at this week. One player who seems to be catching the attention of Fantasy managers recently is Josh Maja. The Nigerian made an explosive start to the campaign by scoring a hattrick and followed it up with a goal in Gameweek 3. With a ropey Swansea defence up next Maja has the potential to add to his season tally.

Michael Cheek (Bromley)

Bromley have won two of their three league matches 2-0 so far this season and they come up against Crewe next. As well losing three of their four matches in all competitions so far Crewe have also conceded eight goals. Star striker and penalty taker Michael Cheek could be the go-to option in attack after bagging a goal in two of his three league matches.

Teams to win

Notts County – They play away from home this week which could mean additional points if they win. Swindon lay ahead and after shipping four goals in their latest home match (where they play again this week), we could see a prolific win for Notts County.

Sunderland – As highlighted above Sunderland have been in brilliant form – winning all three of their league matches. They also netted seven goals and kept three clean sheets in the same games. Both are huge factors that contribute to their overall appeal against Portsmouth this week.
