Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 22

In this article we take a look at the Fantasy EFL top picks for Gameweek 22. We bring in our expert and regular Fantasy EFL contributor @FPLEdgeworth to reveal his fixture tickers and top picks in each league.

Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 22 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and the best teams to select are, could be hugely beneficial for the biggest round of the campaign so far.

Goalkeepers – Owen Goodman – AFC Wimbledon

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 22

My opening top pick for Gameweek 22 is Owen Goodman. The Wimbledon goalkeeper has had a very good campaign so far – keeping 10 clean sheets, which is the second most in League Two. As well as that, he has conceded just 0.8 goals per 90 minutes on average. With a double gameweek against two struggling teams, Newport and Fleetwood, he is a shoo-in for this position.

Glenn Morris – Gillingham

Another player with a double gameweek this week is Morris. The 41-year-old veteran plays for Gillingham, who have kept six clean sheets in 14 games so far this season. They have also bagged back-to-back clean sheets three times this season, so we could see that this week when they face Bromley and Chesterfield.

Defenders – Joe Low – Wycombe Wanderers

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 22

A standout defender pick this week is Joe Low, who plays for Wycombe. The League One high fliers have kept two clean sheets in the last three games. Blackpool and Huddersfield lay ahead, which could be two good opportunities at home to keep a clean sheet. Low has also scored four goals this campaign, showing he has solid goal threat as a centre-back.

Omar Sowunmi – Bromley

Next up is one of the most consistent recent scorers, Sowunmi. The Bromley defender has produced a huge 68 points in the last six weeks, bagging eight or more in each of them. He also netted three goals in the last three games, which, for a centre-back, is unheard of. Taking that into account he is one to consider even with difficult fixtures against Gillingham and Crewe Alexandra.

Midfielders – Ben Wiles – Huddersfield Town

My first midfield pick for the round ahead is Ben Wiles. Wiles has been very good recently – Banking two double-digit hauls and three returns in total during his previous five matches. Wiles faces Rotherham and Wycombe this week, and whilst the latter could be seen as a tough fixture, Wiles has shown he can return against tricky opposition this season already.

Ossama Ashley – Salford City

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 22

Due to the lack of midfield options with a double Gameweek, I have opted for Ossama Ashley. Ashley has amassed a massive seven double-digit returns in 13 matches. A large proportion of his points come from his special ability for interceptions. MK Dons rank in the top three for attempted passes in League Two, so the clash will give him a lot of opportunity to pick up interceptions.

Forwards – Mathew Stevens – AFC Wimbledon

Another Wimbledon player is next in Stevens, who sits second for most goals in League Two with 12. This week he comes up against both Newport County and Fleetwood Town. Whilst the latter have proven ropey defensively this season, the former have shipped a whopping 38 goals. Both teams could be perfect opportunities for Stevens to continue his form.

Michael Cheek – Bromley

The final player making his way among my top picks this week is Michael Cheek, who, like the previous player, has also produced 12 goals this season already. Although facing two more difficult sides this week, Cheek has already returned against the likes of Walsall, Crewe and Wimbledon this season.

Teams to Target

  • AFC Wimbledon – Wimbledon are currently second in League Two due to their fantastic start to the new season. As mentioned previously, they are away to both Newport and Fleetwood this week, who both sit in the bottom half of the table. Playing away twice plays a huge role in their appeal this week, because if successful, managers will receive additional points.
  • Wycombe Wanderers – Wycombe have also impressed this season and currently reside third in League One. Prior to their previous game, they were unbeaten in over 15 matches, which shows just how consistent they can be. Blackpool and Huddersfield lay ahead, which won’t be easy, but they play both fixtures at home.
