Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 18

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at the Fantasy EFL top picks for Gameweek 18. We bring in our expert and regular Fantasy EFL contributor @FPLEdgeworth to reveal two of his best players in each position ahead of the new round.

Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 18 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and top two teams to target are could help you beat your mini-league rivals and secure a good rank.

Goalkeepers – Aynsley Pears – Blackburn Rovers

The first player in this week’s top pick is Pears. The Blackburn goalkeeper, heads into his next games off the back of securing two clean sheets against two sides currently in the top 5 of the Championship. As well as that, in the 17 games he has played, he has produced a huge 57 saves, averaging over three saves per game. With that and two easier fixtures against Hull and Sheffield Wednesday this week, he was an easy addition.

Paul Nardi – QPR

Next up is Nardi, the QPR man has managed 11 points in each of his two matches. As well as that, he also kept a clean sheet against high-flying Burnley and Sunderland recently. QPR come up against Norwich and Oxford this week and there is a good chance he adds another clean sheet to his tally this season, whilst also adding to his save count, of which he is currently averaging over three per game.

Defenders – CJ Egan-Riley – Burnley

Egan-Riley is the first defender of this week’s top picks, and deservingly so. The Burnley man has managed a whopping 55 points in his last five games, keeping a clean sheet in each one. Although playing Middlesbrough, who have scored 18 goals in their last five games, we should also remember that they failed to score against Blackburn recently. Egan-Riley’ other fixture is Derby, which should be a more nailed-on clean sheet for him.

Matthew Pollock – Watford

A player featuring in my top picks for the first time this season is Pollock. The Watford defender can’t seem to stop scoring points recently – hitting six or more in each of his last five games. Cardiff and Hull lay ahead this week, two teams who sit in the bottom five of the Championship. With that in mind, Pollock could continue his excellent run.

Midfielders – Emiliano Marcondes – Norwich City

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 18

The first Norwich player in this week’s top picks is Marcondes. The midfielder has gone quite unnoticed due to his sides striker being the highest-scoring player in the game. However, in the last three games, without Sargent playing due to injury, he has amassed a cool 33 points. So, with Sargent still out and Norwich playing QPR and bottom of the Championship, Portsmouth, he is a great pick.

Finn Azaz – Middlesbrough

Azaz is the second-highest-scoring midfielder in the game currently, and if it wasn’t for that, he would not be in this week’s top picks. This is because Middlesbrough play Burnley and Leeds. However, with 60 points in his last four starts, it is impossible to exclude him, and not picking him, even with tough fixtures, could lead to rank or mini-league damage if he performs well.

Forwards – Borja Sainz – Norwich City

The highest-scoring player who was mentioned earlier, is my next top pick, Sainz. The Norwich forward has returned in each of his last three games, which includes a hattrick, showing just how explosive he can be. This week he clashes with QPR and Portsmouth, two inconsistent sides that Sainz can take advantage of.

Liam Cullen – Swansea City

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 18

A player who now, after being given a run of starts, has started to produce contributions takes his place amongst my picks. Cullen, the Swansea forward, has managed two goals and two assists in his last three games. Luton and Plymouth are up next, the latter, a side who have conceded 12 goals in their last three games next. With that in mind, Cullen could have huge potential.

Teams to Target

  • Blackburn Rovers – Blackburn have been very impressive recently – winning each of their last three games, which included wins against Leeds and high-scoring Middlesbrough. This week, with Hull and Sheffield Wednesday up next, teams not as good as the last two teams they beat, they could make it five wins in a row.
  • Watford – Another team with two away games is Watford. They travel to Cardiff and Hull, as mentioned already, two sides in the bottom five of the league. Two of the easiest fixtures you could ask for in a double gameweek lay ahead, and the fact that both games are away gives them even more potential for points.
