Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 14

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at the Fantasy EFL top picks for Gameweek 14. We bring in our expert and regular Fantasy EFL contributor @FPLEdgeworth to reveal two of his best players in each position ahead of the new round.

Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 14 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and top two teams to target are could help you beat your mini-league rivals and secure a good rank.

Goalkeepers – James Trafford – Burnley

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 14

My first top pick is Trafford. The Burnley keeper has had a reasonably good season so far, keeping six clean sheets in 12 games. This week Burnley are one of two teams in the game with a double gameweek, playing West Brom and Swansea. Trafford could continue this one clean sheet in every two games trend and at least keep one clean sheet this week.

Alex Palmer – West Brom

Next up, which might be surprising for some people, is Alex Palmer. West Brom are the second and final team who have a double gameweek this week. In an easier second game against Hull, the first is almost a free hit. Palmer has managed four or more points in five of his last six games, so has sustained very good output recently.

Defenders – Dennis Cirkin – Sunderland

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 14

The highest scoring player in the game is Cirkin, who could be a must have. In fact he has racked up five clean sheets in six games at home this season. This week Sunderland play Coventry at home, which is another massive opportunity for Cirkin to add to his total.

Harry Souttar – Sheffield United

Souttar is part of another team who has a good home clean sheet record, and in this case it’s Sheffield United. The Blades have amassed five clean sheets in their last five home games, so playing Sheffield Wednesday at home this week, should be another great opportunity to continue that form.

Midfielders – Josh Brownhill – Burnley

My next double gameweek top pick is Brownhill, and although in the last two games he has only totalled four points, that is mostly due to the fact Burnley haven’t scored. Based on their quality this is unsustainable, and when Burnley have scored, Brownhill hasn’t banked less than four points, which over a double gameweek could get you a good score.

Kwame Poku – Peterborough United

Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 14

Poku has had quite a good start to the season – scoring seven goals and creating four assists in 14 games. Prior to his last game against Bolton Poku produced four returns in a row, and this week Peterborough play Cambridge, who are in the relegation zone of League One.

Forwards – Josh Maja – West Brom

My next double gameweek player is Josh Maja. Maja started the season with a hattrick on the opening day, following that on with four goals and an assist in the six games after. Although quiet in terms of output recently, barring his goal in the previous match, Maja has two opportunities to return this week.

Borja Sainz – Norwich City

Sainz has been the best forward in the game so far this season, hitting a huge 11 goals and two assists in 14 matches. This includes four returns in his previous six games. He may have blanked in his last match but he still came close after scoring an offside goal.

Teams to Target

  • Burnley – My first team to target is a double gameweek team, Burnley. They play West Brom and Swansea this week, and as I have mentioned when talking through players, the West Brom game is a ‘free hit’ and it’s the Swansea game where they are almost guaranteed to win.
  • West Brom – Some may be surprised I’m picking two teams who play each other, but with both teams favourites for their second game, I think you have to select them. Both should be up there with the highest scoring teams this week.
