Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 12

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at the Fantasy EFL top picks for Gameweek 12. We bring in our expert and regular Fantasy EFL contributor @FPLEdgeworth to reveal two of his best players in each position ahead of the new round.

Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 12 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and top two teams to target are could help you beat your mini-league rivals and secure a good rank.

Goalkeepers – Filip Marschall – Crewe Alexandra

Marschall is my first top pick. The Crewe goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in his last five home games, and with Tranmere at home this week, a team who have only scored in one of their last three games, it could be a good chance for them to add to their already good clean sheet record.

Alex Bass – Notts County

Bass is the third highest scoring goalkeeper in the game and the highest in League Two. This has come from not just his clean sheets but also 54 saves in 13 games for an average of just over four per match. This would guarantee him two extra points a game. Against Harrogate at home this week, Bass will be looking to keep another clean sheet.

Defenders – Ben Cabongo – Swansea City

In his previous seven matches Ben Cabango has picked up as low as five points just once. In those same games he has only managed three clean sheets, showing that he doesn’t need clean sheets to get points. Although playing Millwall at home this week, they haven’t scored on the road in their last two attempts. So, Cabongo should get a clean sheet as well as other defensive points.

Maxime Estève – Burnley

Estève has been part of a Burnley side that has kept five clean sheets in their last six games. Although he doesn’t get many points via alternative routes, Burnley are at home against a QPR team who haven’t scored away from home in their last two games. So, another clean sheet should be all but guaranteed.

Midfielders – Lewis Wing – Reading

The first double-gameweek player to be included in this version of the top picks is Lewis Wing. He has gone under the radar recently, but after his massive 18-point haul on the weekend, he won’t be any more. Wing has also returned in each of his last four games and has only seen less than five points in three of his last 11 games. Reading play Bristol Rovers and Stockport this week, two teams Wing could do well against.

Ethon Archer – Cheltenham Town

Archer has been the bright spark in a disappointing Cheltenham team so far this season. Nevertheless, he has returned in each of his last five games, and with two 15+ pointers amongst that, he could be a must have this week, especially as he faces Carlisle who are second from bottom in the league.

Forwards – Louie Barry – Stockport County

Barry has had a very good start to the season with Stockport after playing with Aston Villa in preseason. That has been evident with a huge seven goals in 11 games so far. A double gameweek for him next means he has two opportunities to pick up points.

Nathan Lowe – Walsall

My final player in this week’s top picks is Lowe, who has been one of the most consistent attacking returners recently. With six returns in his last six games, including two double-digit returns, he’s hard to ignore, but to make him an even better option, he plays Accrington this week, who are 21st in the league.

Teams to Target

  • Fleetwood Town – Fleetwood haven’t had a win in a couple weeks, but that isn’t just due to them but also the level of competition they have faced. The double gameweek ahead and two easier fixtures against Newport and Salford, could be a good opportunity to bounce back.
  • Reading – Unlike my previous team they have won four of their last five games and find themselves just outside the playoffs. They too have a double gameweek this week but play against Bristol Rovers and Stockport. They will be hoping to pick up maximum points and get back into the playoff spots.
