Team Reveal
Goalkeeper
Matt Macey – Colchester United – Macey has kept just one clean sheet in his first five games. That number doesn’t concern me as Colchester play Morecambe this week, a side who are yet to score a goal in the league.
Defenders
Mickey Demetriou – Crewe Alexandra – Demetriou is the highest scoring defender in the game, and that by itself is a good argument to pick him. Another good reason to pick him is because he has a very good fixture against an Accrington side who are currently amongst the bottom two teams in League Two. In addition, Demetriou has produced nine or more clearances in each of his last four games.
Dennis Cirkin – Sunderland – Cirkin is my next defender and another defender with an amazing fixture, this time against Plymouth, who, like Accrington, are in the relegation zone in their respective league. Cirkin has also returned in three out of his four games, including two double-digit hauls.
Midfielders
Aaron Wildig (C) – Newport County – Wildig has had a very good start to the season and is amongst the top five players in the game for points. Not just this but he has also returned for four successive weeks in a row now. Up against a poor side in Swindon who are winless so far, I can see him getting a return or two, he is also my captain.
Luke Molyneux (VC) – Doncaster Rovers – Molyneux is the highest scoring player so far; although inconsistent, he has got two 19-pointers in five games, so he is worth owning. He also faces Harrogate, who have just one win so far. Doncaster are the first team to play so if he returns big, you can put your captaincy on a non-starter, and Molyneux will get your captain points.
Forwards
Duncan Watmore – Millwall – Watmore is another player that has had a good start, returning in three out of his four games. All three returns have all been double-digits, which shows how hugely explosive he can be. Watmore comes up against Luton this week, who are in the relegation zone, this is a good chance for Watmore to carry on his good start.
David McGoldrick – Notts County – McGoldrick may not have started for Notts County in the first three games this season, but since starting the last two he has got 26 points with two double-digit hauls and four goals. Notts County play a Bromley side who haven’t won since week two so this is a chance for McGoldrick to add to his good start. If he doesn’t start the game I will have a Notts County attacker so that’s guaranteed.
Teams to Target
Sheffield United – Sheffield United have made an unbeaten start to this season. They are also facing Hull City, who haven’t picked up a win so far. In addition, Sheffield United are playing away from home so it will allow me to gain extra points you wouldn’t get with picking a home team.
Colchester United – Colchester are my second team, and although they haven’t had the best start, the reason I have picked them is because of their opponents, Morecambe. During their five first games, they have lost each one 1-0, and so using that, I can see it continuing. Colchester also play away so it’s another good opportunity to gain from the away tie.
