Fantasy EFL Team Reveal for Gameweek 5

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at @FPLEdgeworth‘s Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 5. Our expert shares his team, rationale around each pick and discusses the two teams he is backing to win for the fourth round.

Our Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 5 could be very helpful for fantasy managers. Knowing who our expert picks could be extremely enlightening. It could also bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

Team Reveal

Goalkeeper

Arthur OkonkwoWrexham – Okonkwo is currently the second highest scoring goalkeeper in the EFL available to play this week. Wrexham have managed three clean sheets in the last three games so I will be hoping for Wrexham to add a fourth as they play Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury have won just one of their four games which was against rock bottom Leyton Orient.

Defenders

Anthony O’ConnorHarrogate Town – O’Connor has been one of the most intriguing picks this season, as although Harrogate have kept just one clean sheet this season, O’Connor has picked up a minimum points return of five and an average of 7.5. This is due to a massive 51 clearances, which is equivalent to 17 points and just over four clearance points per game.

Max Cleworth – Wrexham – Cleworth is my second defensive Wrexham asset, and although that may seem risky, this week is one of the weeks where I think you can do it. As I previously mentioned, the fixture is very good, but Cleworth also offers attacking threat with two goals in his four games.

Midfielders

Daniel Crowley (C) – Notts County – Crowley is the perfect example of the saying “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again.” and I use that because I bought him last week when he blanked. But, with an easier fixture this week against Accrington and knowing attackers like him rarely blank twice he stays as my captain.

Adam Phillips (VC) – Barnsley – Phillips comes into the week in good form with three goals in two games and sits as the highest scoring midfielder in League One available this week. I think Phillips is going to have a good week, especially against an inconsistent Bristol Rovers side and with penalty duty at his disposal.

Luke Molyneux – Doncaster Rovers – Molyneux is the highest scoring player in the game with two 19 point hauls this season already. It’s hard not to pick him when he has already had multiple occasions of unbelievable upside. Although they play Gillingham this week, a good defensive side who sit at the top of League Two, I will not be taking another risk of not having high-scoring Molyneux in my team.

Forward

Jodi Jones – Notts County – Jones is not naturally a forward but has still shown he is a good option as he ranks top for points amongst League Two forwards available this week. Notts County face a poor Accrington team next up and it’s a fixture to double up on Notts County assets as I I did two weeks ago where I earned 28 points. I will look for a repeat of that again.

Teams to Target

Port Vale – Although in recent form many people wouldn’t like this pick, in my opinion I think it will work out at the start of the season. Port Vale were widely expected to be in contention to win the league, and after a disappointing start they will want to bounce back against Newport. The Welsh side had a very good start to the season but they have had a kind run of games. Port Vale also play away from home so a win could see me pick up extra points.

Harrogate Town – They are another selection many people will question but one I think could do well. Harrogate have had a mixed start similar to their opponents Cheltenham, but having watched Cheltenham against my club Wimbledon the other week and knowing what Harrogate are about, I think Harrogate will win. They also play away from home, so I’m hoping for two away wins this week.
