Our Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 20 could be very helpful for fantasy managers. Knowing who our expert picks could be extremely enlightening. It could also bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.
Team Reveal
Goalkeeper
Illan Meslier – Leeds United – Taking up my goalkeeper spot for me this week is Meslier, who so far this season has kept 11 clean sheets in 21 games. He also faces Oxford United at Elland Road this week, who haven’t scored away from home in the last four games. Playing at home this week should mean a safe clean sheet for Meslier.
Defenders
Max Cleworth (VC) – Wrexham – Cleworth is my vice captain this week, because he plays in an earlier window. The Welshman has produced five or more points in each of their last five matches. In addition, Wrexham play Bristol Rovers this week, who have failed to score in their last three games. With that in mind he has a great chance of a clean sheet, and with four goals and one assist this season, Cleworth also has attacking threat.
Mickey Demetriou – Crewe Alexandra – A player who has appeared multiple times in my team returns. The centre-back currently sits as the highest-scoring defender in the game. As well as that, he is part of one of the best defences in League Two – with Crewe having conceded the joint least amount of goals. Colchester, who they face this week, have netted just once in their last three, so he should pick up a clean sheet.
Midfielders
Finn Azaz (C) – Middlesbrough – Taking my captaincy armband this week is Azaz, who also picked up my best captaincy return so far this season with 44 points in Gameweek 16. The woeful Plymouth lay ahead next for the Irishman, who have conceded two or more goals in their last five games.
Gustavo Hamer – Sheffield United – Two weeks in a row, Hamer has now featured in my team, and for good reason. In fact, he has banked six or more points in his previous five matches, and in two of those games, he also collected a double-digit return. So, with Sheffield United playing Cardiff this week, who have averaged two goals conceded a game in the last six matches, he should return well.
Ossama Ashley – Salford City – Five double-digit returns in the last six games for Ashley, who is the next player in my team. Even with that amazing point-scoring form, he is somehow only 0.1% owned, which is even better. He plays Accrington Stanley this week, who are second bottom for pass success in League Two, which could allow Ashley to add to his 21 interceptions in his last six games.
Forwards
Jay Stansfield – Birmingham City – Another player featuring for two weeks in a row is Stansfield, who is one of the most in-form players in the EFL – racking up six goals in his last six games. Playing Crawley, who are recently coming off four goals conceded, should be a great opportunity to get amongst the goals.
Teams Selections
- Wrexham – My first team selection is Wrexham, who sit third in League One after a fantastic start to the season. The Welsh side face Bristol Rovers this week, who, as previously mentioned, haven’t scored in their last three games. Taking that into account, Wrexham should win. They also play away from home, which would award them additional points if successful.
- Birmingham City – Another team I’ve only picked once is Birmingham City. They have won their last four games on the bounce and perch second in League One. Crawley are up next, who are 21st in League One. Birmingham also play away from home too, so again, if successful, it could be a great chance to earn more points.
