Fantasy EFL Team Reveal for Gameweek 2

In this article we take a look at @FPLEdgeworth‘s Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 2. Our expert shares his team, rationale around each pick and discusses the two teams he is backing to win for the second round.

Our Fantasy EFL team reveal for Gameweek 2 could be very helpful for fantasy managers. Knowing who our expert picks could be extremely enlightening. It could also bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

Team Reveal

Goalkeeper

Seny Dieng – Middlesbrough – Starts off the team having featured in both Top Pick articles. This time I put him in my team after a good seven pointer last week against Swansea. I can see another clean sheet with Middlesbrough beating Leeds 3-0 in the Carabao Cup. I am hoping they can keep their 100% clean sheet record as they play Derby, who struggled with League Two Chesterfield and comfortably lost to Blackburn recently.

Defenders

Vitinho – Burnley – Vitinho went somewhat under the radar at the start of the season. Now as an out-of-position defender playing on the wing, that is no more. He bagged 13 points against Luton as he scored and got several defensive points. I’ll be hoping he does similar against an average Cardiff side, but this time add clean sheet points to his total.

Luke Ayling – Middlesbrough FC – Ayling is my second player from Middlesbrough and the first player to feature in both weeks and deservingly so, especially after his 11 point return last week. He will be looking to repeat a similar performance this week against current strugglers Derby. Even without a clean sheet Ayling hit four defensive points in Gameweek 1 and was one clearance away from five points, which he could fall back on.

Midfielders

Luke Molyneux (C) – Doncaster Rovers – Molyneux is my first midfielder, and more importantly, my captain this week. Last week he managed a huge 19 points with two goals and one assist whilst also scoring in the Carabao Cup off the bench in midweek. This week his fixture is just as easy with Newport, who haven’t won in 10 league games. He also plays for a side who have failed to score two or more goals once in their last 12 league games. He’s a must-have for me.

Sammie Szmodics – Blackburn Rovers – Last week I didn’t end up keeping him due to his benching, which I paid for as he banked 10 points due to a goal and an assist all in 25 minutes. He also netted twice in the Carabao Cup, so if he starts again this week against Norwich, who lost surprisingly to newly promoted Oxford, he’s a must-own.

Jordan Gibson – Doncaster Rovers – including Gibson, who is another player I’ve picked both weeks, shows I’ve changed formations from last week from a 2-2-2 to a 2-3-1. This is due to more value coming out of the midfield picks in my opinion. Gibson picked up an impressive 12 points after getting a goal and two interceptions last week, and with Newport next, there’s no way he can’t match or improve that in my opinion.

Forward

Alfie May (VC) – Birmingham City – Alfie May is my only forward and one of the most reliable forwards around and he showed this last week with his nine points. This was due to him scoring in a low scoring 1-1 against Reading. This week he plays Wycombe, who conceded three goals against newly promoted Wrexham in Gameweek 1. With that in mind you would expect Birmingham to do similar and Alfie May to be back amongst the goals.

Teams to win

Doncaster Rovers – My first team is Doncaster Rovers. Following my very poor 0 points picked up from both teams last week, I wanted a team that I can assure will win. They are also away from home which could give me extra potential. I am expecting them to both win and score goals against Newport.

Hull City – My second team is Hull City. They are also away from home but are definitely a more riskier pick than Doncaster. You wouldn’t expect to use Doncaster in five Gameweeks this season, so it’s not a waste if they don’t live up to expectation. They play against Plymouth this week, who lost 4-0 against Sheffield Wednesday last week, and so with that in mind, I am hoping Hull can follow suit with a good win.
