Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2 Top Picks

Gameweek 2 of Fantasy EFL is here, and with fresh fixtures on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to target the standout options. In this article, we highlight the Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2 Top Picks – players with strong form, favourable matchups, and the potential to deliver big returns this week.
To do this we brought in regular contributor @FPLEdgeworth, he shares the best options in each position for the round ahead.
Goalkeepers
Carl Rushworth – Coventry City

We begin this week’s top picks with Carl Rushworth of Coventry. They open their campaign at home to Hull City, a side that narrowly avoided relegation last season on goal difference. In contrast, Coventry reached the playoffs and now have home advantage in the early kick-off. With those factors combined, a clean sheet looks highly likely.
Josh Keeley – Luton Town

Another strong option between the sticks is Josh Keeley of Luton. He kept a clean sheet at home to AFC Wimbledon in Gameweek 1, where Luton restricted their opponents to zero shots on target. This week, they travel to face Peterborough, who fell to Cardiff in their opener. If Luton replicate last week’s defensive solidity, another clean sheet could be on the cards.
Defenders
Maël de Gevigney – Barnsley

First up in defence is Maël de Gevigney. Despite failing to keep a clean sheet against Plymouth, he still returned six points thanks to defensive actions. Barnsley now host Burton, a side expected to struggle, and this looks like a good opportunity for their first clean sheet of the season. If MDG continues racking up defensive points, a double-digit return is well within reach.
Ryan Johnson – AFC Wimbledon

Next is Ryan Johnson of Wimbledon. He was set for a 12-point return last week before a late own goal saw him finish with just one. This week, Wimbledon face a Peterborough side who struggled to create chances from open play against an inexperienced Cardiff defence. A clean sheet is very possible here, and Johnson could bounce back strongly.
Midfielders
Luke Molyneux – Doncaster Rovers

A player who frustrated managers last season, Molyneux has started the new campaign in style – scoring the winner and collecting 10 points in Gameweek 1. Doncaster face a Mansfield side that conceded twice in their opening game, and if Molyneux maintains this form, he could easily deliver again this week.
Davis Keillor-Dunn – Barnsley

Keillor-Dunn also impressed in Gameweek 1, picking up 11 points in Barnsley’s win over Plymouth. Now playing at home against a weaker Burton side, he’s well positioned to score again and looks like one of the standout midfield picks for Gameweek 2.
Forwards
Stephen Humphrys – Bradford City

Leading the forward picks is Stephen Humphrys, who plays just behind the striker for Bradford. He delivered 11 points in Gameweek 1 with two assists and six shots. Had all those shots been on target, he would’ve gained six more points from action bonuses alone. With a trip to Northampton – a side tipped for relegation – on the horizon, Humphrys is expected to perform well again.
Ollie Tanner – Cardiff City

The final name on this week’s list is Ollie Tanner of Cardiff. While not a traditional striker, he still posted an impressive nine points in Gameweek 1, registering an assist, six key passes, and two shots on target. Cardiff now face Port Vale, who conceded multiple goals and had a red card in their opener. Tanner could thrive again.
Teams to Target
Bradford City
Bradford made a big statement with their win over Wycombe last week and now face Northampton, who were beaten 3-1 on the opening day. If Bradford can carry that momentum forward, they should secure another win and potentially benefit from the bonus away-day points.
Luton Town
Despite only edging past Wimbledon 1-0 in Gameweek 1, Luton’s solid defensive display was impressive. They now face Peterborough, who failed to capitalise against an inexperienced Cardiff side. With a point to prove, Luton should take control and come away with another strong result.
