Fantasy EFL Gameweek 14 Team Reveals

Notes

  • Another double gameweek in the Championship means my focus is on nailed players with the best fixtures. I’ve filled my team with players who are starters for both matches and take penalties.
  • Goalkeepers & Defenders: WBA’s Joshua Griffiths is an obvious pick this week, with home games against struggling Sheffield Wednesday and away vs Charlton, perfect fixtures defensively. The same goes for defenders Tristan Crama and Lloyd Jones. Charlton have impressed after promotion, and Jones is a clearance machine. Millwall are improving, with key players like De Norre and Doughty returned from injury. Cooper could challenge Crama, but with four yellow cards, I won’t risk him.
  • Midfielders & Forwards: Isaac Price is WBA’s main man, and everything goes through him. Anis Mehmeti and Louza are penalty takers, giving multiple routes for points. Brandon Thomas-Asante is the league’s most in-form striker. Coventry score freely, so having him is a must.
  • Club Picks: WBA and Coventry are the safest bets this week. Championship games are tough, but these teams have strong fixtures and form, giving them a good chance to deliver points. In short, I’m targeting reliability, fixtures, and penalties this week to maximize returns across both matches.

Notes

  • In goal, I’ve gone for Beadle. He has two nice home fixtures this week and good chances of at least one clean sheet. He should also rack up some save points. The double up with the Charlton defence is tempting with Kaminski, but I already have two Charlton players and I’d rather spread the risk this week instead of going all in on one team at the back.
  • At the back, my first defender is Phillips. Two strong fixtures on paper against sides that aren’t too high scoring. He’s got very good defensive numbers and some goal threat too, especially against a Sheffield Wednesday team that really struggle to defend set pieces.
  • Jones is my second defender. He’s already made 116 clearances this season, that shows the floor he has. The fact he has two home games also boosts his clean sheet potential, and he carries strong goal threat as well.
  • In midfield, my first pick is Louza, who also takes the captaincy armband. He’s just a really solid all rounder with so many routes to points, on all set pieces, including penalties, and doesn’t need a goal to have a good score. He’s consistent and feels like the safest captaincy option this week.
  • The second midfield spot is trickier. Right now, I’m on Carey. He’s been in great form recently, scoring well and playing a key role in this Charlton side. He is slightly overperforming, but a good pair of fixtures, he still feels like a very good pick. This slot could change come the deadline, though.
  • Up front, Armstrong leads the line. I think having a Southampton attacker this week is important for me. The team’s attacking numbers have been good, just not converting recently, but that should turn soon. Quality side, and I can see the goals coming.
  • Alongside him is Sargent. Regardless of form, a proven high scorer against two of the worst defences in the league who have conceded the most xG is just too good to ignore.
  • For my club picks, I’ve gone with Coventry and Birmingham. Coventry cover is important for me given how strong they’ve looked, and Birmingham have two home fixtures and the quality to get results in both. I’m also tempted by Charlton, but for now, I’ll stick with those two.

Notes

  • Formation: 2-2-2
  • Captain: Joe Gelhardt (HUL)
  • Team Picks: Stoke (STO) & Coventry (COV)
  • Another Championship Double Gameweek is here! I’ve scored 253 points across the previous DGWs (131 in GW9 & 122 in GW12), so I’m hoping to continue the momentum. Also – I somehow have three players named Thomas in my team!
  • Goalkeeper: Viktor Johansson (STO) – 3% selected – Johansson has kept five clean sheets (+25) in 12 matches, conceding only eight goals, and making 36 saves (+16). He even has one assist (+3). Solid base, strong ceiling.
  • Defenders: Lloyd Jones (CHA) – 1.2% selected – Two home fixtures (SWA, WBA). He’s been a points machine this season, with 143 defensive contributions and five clean sheets (+25). Both opponents struggle away from home – huge haul potential here. Bobby Thomas (COV) – 8.6% selected – Thomas has six clean sheets (+30) in 12 matches, one goal (+7) and four assists (+12). Both teams he faces (WRE, SHU) have poor away numbers, so he has chances at both ends.
  • Midfielders: Sorba Thomas (STO) – 5% selected – Sorba now has nine goal involvements (4G, 5A) in 12 games, along with 30 key passes and 10 shots on target. Even though his opponents (BRC, OXF) don’t concede much, Sorba looks dangerous every game. Ben Whiteman (PRE) – 0.1% selected – Ultra-differential, great underlying volume, and heavily involved in transitions. Can tick along nicely across two fixtures.
  • Forwards: Brandon Thomas-Asante (COV) – 9.7% selected – BTA is now top scorer in the Championship. He has 12 goal involvements (9G, 3A) in 12 matches, from 13 KPs and 16 SOTs – meaning nearly 25% of key passes lead to assists and over 50% of his shots on target result in goals. Both opponents (WRE, SHU) have GC/90 ≥ 1.33. He’s in a prime spot this week. Joe Gelhardt (HUL) – 0.7% selected (Captain) Gelhardt has stepped up since McBurnie’s injury: 32 points in his last three matches, with three goals and one assist from nine SOTs and three KPs – a 1-in-3 success rate in both areas. Like BTA, he faces teams (NOR, DER) who concede 1.33+ GC/90, so the chances should be there for him.
  • Team Picks Summary – Coventry are the consistent play: unbeaten so far, while Wrexham have won just once at home and Sheffield United have lost five away.
  • Hull are the risk/reward pick: Norwich have lost all five home games, and Derby have only two wins in seven – but Hull themselves have only one win in five away. Upside exists, but it’s not without risk.

Notes

  • For the goalkeeper spot, I’ve gone with Beadle. This was a difficult position to decide, but I’m backing the Birmingham keeper mainly because of the fixtures. They have two home matches, and aside from a couple of individual mistakes, Birmingham have generally looked solid at the back. It feels like a reasonable short-term pick for this week.
  • Defence – My first defender is Lloyd Jones. This is probably the easiest pick of the week. Charlton have two home games, and Jones averages 9+ clearances per match, making him a huge magnet for defensive points. He’s a must-have for me.
  • My second defender is Phillips. West Brom also have two favourable fixtures, with opponents who aren’t particularly strong going forward. Phillips carries goal threat on set pieces and is also reliable for defensive bonus, so he looks well placed for returns.
  • Midfield – In midfield, I’ve selected Carey. He consistently picks up points in multiple ways – shots on target, key passes, and now three goals in his last six, showing he has an eye for goal. A versatile scoring route is very valuable in a DGW.
  • Next is Imran Louza. The fixtures for Watford are a bit tougher, but Louza can score from interceptions, key passes, shots on target, and he also has penalties. That keeps him relevant regardless of the opponent.
  • Forwards – My first striker is Brandon Thomas-Asante. The numbers speak for themselves – seven goals and 12 shots on target in his last six league matches. Coventry look a level above right now, and having coverage of their attack feels essential.
  • My second striker is Adam Armstrong. Yes, Southampton are struggling, but Armstrong still has three goals and 11 shots on target in his last six. He remains heavily involved and is definitely worth consideration this week.
  • Team Picks – Charlton: Two home fixtures and good recent form – three wins in their last five.
  • Birmingham: This is more of a fixture play. They’ve made some costly individual errors lately, but if they can return to the solidity they showed in their first three home matches, they could perform well.

Notes

  • Carl Rushworth starts in goal. He’s been very reliable this season, and I really like his fixtures across this Double Gameweek. Solid choice with both form and opportunity.
  • At the back, I’m going with Tristan Crama and Lloyd Jones. Crama posts great bonus numbers, particularly away from home, and with two away fixtures this week, he feels like a strong pick. Jones also has two good fixtures, and he’s averaging over six points per game so far. He’s a clearance machine and consistently returns base points, which makes him very dependable.
  • In midfield, Sonny Carey comes in. His recent form has been excellent, with a mix of interceptions and goals, and I think that continues across his two matches.
  • I’ve also gone with Anis Mehmeti at the moment. He’s clearly Bristol City’s talisman, on penalties, and his minutes are secure, which is a huge bonus in a double. He offers multiple routes to points.
  • Up front, Brandon Thomas-Asante is an easy pick. He has nine goals and comes into this week in top form, with strong fixtures to match. I’m backing him to keep delivering.
  • Joining him is Femi Azeez, who is in great form heading into the Gameweek. He feels like a very strong differential with real upside.
  • Clubs to back this week: Millwall have two away fixtures, but they’re in great form and full of confidence. Charlton have two home games, and I really like those fixtures – they’ve only lost once at home all season, which adds to the appeal.
  • Captain: Tristan Crama (C).
