Fantasy EFL Gameweek 12 Team Reveals

Notes

  • I’ve activated the Max Captain chip this week. It’s a pretty weak chip overall, but this week, the games seem pretty unpredictable. There’s also no clear standout captaincy option so it feels like the perfect time to use it.
  • In goal I’ve gone for Ripley. As always, I’m targeting clean sheets. Despite only three clean sheets all season, they’ve actually been really solid defensively, conceding an xG of just 10.2, the lowest in the league. They will be pushing for their third consecutive clean sheet away to a poor attacking Accrington side away and at home to a Notts County side, who have been poor away from home.
  • In defence, the first name on my team sheet is Thomas. I really think a Coventry defender is essential this week. They’ve kept four clean sheets in a row and conceded just 7.5 xG, which ranks 23rd in the league so far. He does not get a lot of defensive bonus, but he’s got attacking threat from set pieces. He also feels like the most secure way into their defence for my set-up, especially as Swindon defenders not really viable.
  • Alongside him, I’m chasing the upside with Davis. I really like the Ipswich defence, they’ve only got one clean sheet so far. But, the underlying numbers clearly show they’ve been unlucky, ranked 22nd for xGC. They have Boro away, who’ve been over performing in the attack, and then Charlton at home, who’ve scored just three goals in five away games and rank 23rd for xG. Davis has the attacking potential as well. He’s on most set pieces and we’ve seen the attacking threat he carries, with 18 assists in his last season in the Championship.
  • Mehmeti is the first player in my midfield. I really like their fixtures from an offensive point of view, and he should be involved in most of their goals. Bristol City haven’t looked great recently due to the injuries of Knight and Bird. However, Mehmeti still feels like a very good high-upside option.
  • I’ve also gone for O’Brien, he’s a great all rounder pick. He’s got a high floor and is playing that advanced number 10 role for Wrexham with three goals and two assists already this season. The first fixture against Stoke isn’t ideal since they’ve been solid defensively. But, the second game vs Oxford looks great as they have been poor defensively this season.
  • Up front, the first name is Sargent. I’m not overly confident in him, but he’s a proven, clinical Championship scorer, and his fixtures are good from an attacking standpoint. He should get 90 minutes in both and is on penalties too. If we get bad injury news on Drinan from Holloway later in the week, I’ll switch to Palmer from Swindon.
  • My second forward is Thomas-Asante. Coventry are one of the best attacking sides to target this week and I can see goals in both fixtures. The main question mark is around minutes with Torp’s fitness and whether Haji Wright starts after being away on international duty. If Wright starts, I’ll likely move to him, he’s the best attacking pick this week if so. If none of Asante, Wright, or Torp start the first game, which I highly doubt, I’ll just go double Coventry defence. That would mean bringing Rushworth in goal over Ripley.
  • For my team picks, I’ve gone with Coventry and Leicester. Coventry’s the obvious one for me, while the second spot was a toss-up between Swindon, Leicester, and Ipswich. I’ve gone Leicester purely for cover, they’re the only side I don’t already have a player from, and in a week like this, coverage feels important.

Notes

  • It’s a double Gameweek for Championship teams, and there are plenty of options to consider. As always, I’m targeting the best fixtures and aiming to pick as many nailed starters as possible. Leicester and Coventry stand out with strong fixtures, which is why their players form the core of my team.
  • Leicester GK Stolarczyk has been consistent this season. Under new manager Cifuentes, they play more controlled football. I expect at least one clean sheet from the next two games.
  • Bobby Thomas (Coventry CB) is their most nailed defender and carries solid attacking threat, which makes him a strong pick.
  • Klarer (Birmingham) is the most nailed defender in his team. Birmingham haven’t fully clicked yet, but their defensive fixtures look promising, so now feels like the right time to back him.
  • Midfield picks this week: O’Brien (Wrexham) is a nailed-on 180-minute player in this DGW. He offers multiple routes to points and is a great all-rounder. Sorba Thomas (Stoke) is in top form – by far their best player right now – and with great fixtures, he’s hard to ignore. Jordan James (Leicester) is my differential. The Welsh international, on loan from Rennes, is playing in an advanced role and looks sharp. He’s seen as El Khannouss’ successor and is one to watch.
  • Up front, both Coventry strikers are solid options, but I slightly prefer Wright, mainly because he’s on penalties.

Notes

  • Michael Cooper is in goal as I feel he has decent fixtures for clean sheets, and I fancy Sheffield United to be more solid now.
  • It’s a two at the back this week, with Bobby Thomas who has been in fine form this season – averaging over seven points per game.
  • Jan Vestergaard sits alongside him as he has great aerial threat, whilst being a beast when it comes to clearances.
  • I have three in midfield, with Sorba Thomas who has looked very sharp this season and looks like a top pick this week. Jordan James since signing for Leicester has been decent and I fancy him to keep his form going this double gameweek.
  • Lastly I’m going to go with Anis Mehmeti who is Bristol City’s main man on penalties and has secure minutes.
  • CF this week will more than likely be Haji Wright who already has eight goals to his name and this week I fancy him to haul.
  • Club picks: I’m going for Coventry City as they’re the standout championship side at the moment and have two nice fixtures. Leicester City will be my other team pick with them being unbeaten in seven games and having two favourable fixtures.
  • The armband is currently on Bobby Thomas (C).

Notes

  • Formation: 2-3-1
  • Captain: Sorba Thomas (STO)
  • Team Picks: COV & LEI
  • GK – Carl Rushworth (COV – 5% selected) – Rushworth is the standout goalkeeper pick this week. He leads the league with eight clean sheets, boasts a 75% save rate, and faces Blackburn and Portsmouth, who have the second and third worst goals scored per 90 (0.87 and 0.89). A double clean sheet looks very possible.
  • DEF – James Bree (CHA – 0.2% selected) & Luke Ayling (WAL – 1.2% selected) – Both face Ipswich and Sheff Weds. Ipswich will be tough, but Sheff Weds offers attacking potential. Bree has four goal involvements (2G, 2A) in five matches, while Ayling has two assists in nine. Defensively, Charlton (0.98 GC/90) and Boro (0.80 GC/90) are solid, meaning both could deliver at both ends
  • MID – Sorba Thomas (STO – 8.1% selected) – Thomas has seven goal involvements (3G, 4A) in nine appearances and four double-digit hauls already. With his consistent shots on target, key passes, and set-piece threat, he’s a standout captain option. Wrexham and Millwall both concede over 1.30 GC/90, adding to his appeal. MID – Brian De Keersmaecker (OXF – 0.7% selected) ‘BDK’ averages 6.7 points per game across seven matches, never scoring below five. Despite only one shot on target and no goals, his three assists from 14 key passes and nine interceptions highlight his all-round game. Against Derby and Wrexham, his ability to win and distribute the ball could be key.
  • MID – Jordan James (LEI – 0.5% selected) – James has been a revelation for Leicester. He’s scored 25 points in his last two games, with three goal involvements (2G, 1A), four shots on target, and 13 key passes over five appearances. Facing Portsmouth and Hull, he’s capable of another big return.
  • FWD – Brandon Thomas-Asante (COV – 3.1% selected) – Coventry attackers remain a must. The Sky Blues average 2.89 goals per 90, and BTA has eight goal involvements (5G, 3A) in nine games. He offers both key pass and shot volume, making him a more balanced pick than Haji Wright.
  • Teams – Coventry should continue their dominant attacking form, while Leicester’s quality should see them comfortably win both fixtures.

Notes

  • Captain this week for me is Bobby Thomas, who is the ultimate upside defender, having picked up five goal contributions in nine games and five clean sheets.
  • My vice captain is another defender, Finley Munroe, who has also picked up multiple goal contributions in the last three games.
  • In the midfield are three all-rounders in Sorba Thomas, Lewis O’Brien and Brian De Keersmaecker, who all offer every way of scoring, so should be guaranteed a good point return, especially over two games.
  • Club picks are the most difficult. It has been a season with no standouts. Although, I’ve opted for Leicester City and Swindon Town, who have both won their last game away from home.
