Amongst all the joy on Tyneside as Newcastle beat Burnley to bag their first win of the season was a big smile from Freddie Woodman. The goalkeeper played the Magpies’ first four matches and put faith in three of his team mates here, captaining goal scorer Callum Wilson and playing assister Fabian Schar, who also delivered a rare clean sheet.
His 78 points also included the 15 of Bernardo Silva and the 13 of Mason Mount, ranking 18,274th globally for this Gameweek.
Also boosted by these two midfield hauls are David Nugent (72 points) and Micah Richards (67 points). West Brom midfielder Alex Mowatt is one of the 0.7% of FPL managers to have benefitted from Ezri Konsa’s two goals against Leicester. The defender gathered 17 points despite not keeping a clean sheet. Martin Odegaard backed himself to score against Everton, which he did, to ensure he has entered the top three million.
Although the brilliant Gameweek 10 performance of Robert Snodgrass was touched on previously (19,553rd amongst the world), he had a howler this time around. His four-point hit brought sales for Demarai Gray (goal and assist) and Michail Antonio (assist), on his way to a final score of 19. Cristiano Ronaldo blanked as captain, with Mohamed Salah’s assist his only return – albeit one that came with a drop for non-captainers.
Derrick Williams was mentioned previously as a manager who likes to take hits on transfers and he took five more this week. Out went Harry Kane – an incredibly ballsy sale considering he faced Norwich at home – alongside fringe players and in came Trent Alexander-Arnold, Emmanuel Dennis and Gabriel Jesus. The 12-point hit backfired.
Sophy Ridge‘s run of being in the top 2k ended after six Gameweeks, although her score of 42 still keeps her 4,652nd in the world. Antonio’s assist was stuck on her bench thanks to Jamie Vardy’s 25-minute cameo, although at least the newsreader finally got a return from Bryan Mbeumo!
