Expert Differentials for Gameweek 2

Last modified date

In this article we take a look at some FPL expert differentials for Gameweek 2. At the same time @FBLThinker, @FPL_ElStatto, @FplRabbi, @FplShakenbake and @FPLReaction battle it to see who can earn the title ‘Differential King’.

Differentials are players who have low ownership. This means that if those players are successful then they could significantly boost both your rank and mini-league position. This is exactly why differentials are such an important part of the game.

Note: All ownership stats are likely to change.

@FPL_ElStatto

“Son Heung-Min – 9.6% – Tottenham – £10m – Home to Everton, who in their first game against Brighton looked poor. I expect the Spurs attack to be too much for Everton in their opening home game and Son to be involved in the goals”.

@FplRabbi

“Kevin De Bruyne – 8.2% – Manchester City – £9.5m – Playing home to Ipswich, who conceded five shots in the box (all big chances) at home to Liverpool, KDB could be on for a haul”.

@FplShakenbake

“Adam Armstrong – 1.7% – Southampton – £5.5m – Only two forwards had a higher xG than Armstrong in GW1. I’m backing the man known as Baby Shearer to open his account against a Forest team who conceded three big chances at home to Bournemouth”.

@FBLThinker

“James Maddison – 4.8% – Tottenham – £7.5m – Maddison looked good in the first game and was on all set pieces whilst also getting the assist for Porro goal. A home game against Everton who had conceded three goals against Brighton and some first choice defenders missing could see Maddison amongst the returns”.

@FPLReaction

“Chris Wood – 6.4% – Nottingham Forest – £6m – Wood found the net in his opener and combined with his good end to last season and successful pre-season it seems he is in a purple patch. Southampton failed to convince in Gameweek 1 and ultimately targeting promoted teams seems like a good play”.

Gameweek 1 Scoring

  • @FPL_ElStatto – He opted for Chris Wood last week. The Nottingham Forest forward scored his sides only goal in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth and banked nine points for his efforts.
  • @FplRabbi – Jarrod Bowen was his first pick of the new season. West Ham lost the game 2-1 and although scoring Bowen failed to contribute to it which resulted in a 2-point return.
  • @FplShakenbake – He chose to back Brighton midfielder Kaoru Mitoma. The Seagulls beat Everton 3-0 and Mitoma was involved with his goal. Including bonus the Japanese international picked up eight points.
  • @FBLThinker – Liverpool midfielder Diogo Jota was his selection last week. After a frustrating first half for the Reds they bounced back in the second and Jota’s goal helped force a 2-0 win. Jota managed a cool eight points for his efforts.
  • @FPLReaction – He went for Crystal Palace man and new signing Daichi Kamada. The Eagles flopped to a 2-1 defeat against Brentford and Kamada didn’t contribute. His yellow card also meant he sank to just one point in the first round.

Overall Scoring

  • 1st – @FPL_ElStatto – Nine points
  • 2nd – @FplShakenbake and @FBLThinker – Eight points
  • 3rd – @FplRabbi – Two points
  • 4th – @FPLReaction – One point.
