Best Wildcard Team for Matchday 3
Goalkeepers
England may have been slightly questionable so far but they have been excellent defensively in recent tournaments. With that in mind and the fixture against Slovenia we could back the nicely priced Jordan Pickford (€5m) who is yet to secure less than four points in a game.
If Pickford fails to return then we could opt for the €4m Florin Nita who started and kept a clean sheet in Matchday 1. The Romania number one also helps to enable the rest of the team.
Defenders
The premium defenders aren’t performing as well as as they should be so going cheap at the back could be wise. With that in mind it could be difficult to leave out Maximilian Mittelstädt (€4m) who picked up an assist in Matchday 2. Germany play on the first day so we can check the line-ups and react to the news within our teams.
Marc Guehi (€4.5m) is one of several defenders in the game who don’t need a clean sheet to return significant points. The England centre-back has amassed 17 ball recoveries so far which is one of the highest amongst players in his position.
Belgium continue their excellent run of fixtures with a match against Ukraine. Although failing to keep a clean sheet in Matchday 1 Wout Faes (€4m) still collected five points due to nine ball recoveries.
Denmark will be hoping for a positive result this week against Serbia who have been less than convincing. They also play with a back-three which allows wing-back Victor Kristiansen (€4.5m) into some great attacking positions. Kristiansen isn’t just the most nailed wing-back within his team but he also bagged an assist in Matchday 2.
Spain have been fantastic during their Group Stages matches and two clean sheets so far is difficult to ignore. Because of that, his fixture against Albania and the fact he managed a mammoth 14 ball recoveries in his last match Cucurella could have huge potential.
Midfield
Ignoring the England frontline could be a huge mistake. Although disappointing so far England have some of the best attackers in world football and the safest one in terms of gametime is Jude Bellingham (€9.5m) who scored in Matchday 1.
Talisman Christian Erisken (€7m) takes his sides corners, freekicks and penalties. He also comes up against a poor Serbia defence of which he can take advantage of in the number 10 role.
Another talisman with a great fixture is Dominik Szoboszlai (€7m). Hungary face a Scotland side who have conceded six goals already. With that in mind corner, free kick and penalty taker Szoboszlai could have huge potential.
Germany have been excellent offensively. As well as racking up seven goals already the hosts are also sustaining some of the best attacking metrics across the board. Ilkay Gundogan (€7m) could well be the cheapest and most effective route into the frontline, his penalty taking duty also boosts his appeal.
Portugal have been one of the most impressive sides in the tournament so far and Bruno Fernandes (€9m) has been key to that. As well as being the creative hub for his team Fernandes has proved time and time again he can also be a goal threat.
Forwards
Poland conceded some of the worst defensive data in the tournament during the first round. So, bringing in France’ most potent attacker could be crucial. Kylian Mbappe (€11m) has been relentless for both club and country for some years now so excluding him could be disastrous.
Regardless of their position it may be tough to keep Cristiano Ronaldo (10m) out of the starting XI. The penalty taker is always looking for more and selfishness is something we are always looking for as EURO Fantasy managers.
Similar to Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku (€9m) was also magnificent in Qualifying. Lukaku continues to spearhead the Belgium frontline and after ranking highest for big chances total in the first round he will be hoping to convert this time around.
