Our EURO 2024 Fantasy Romania top picks could be crucial for managers. Knowing how a team has been performing recently can be helpful. But, knowing who the best picks from each team can be essential for the tournament ahead.

Starting with a fun fact, Romania’ most recent World Cup campaign was in 1998, there they nipped England to top spot. They also enjoyed several features in the EURO’s, including years 2000, 2008 and their latest run in 2016.

In their most recent EURO campaign mentioned above Romania mustered up just a single point which helped them secure a rock bottom placement.

They struggled to bounce back after that disappointing campaign and we can see that that form continued in their latest Nations League season. Competing against Bosnia, Finland and Montenegro, Romania collected just seven points to secure another bottom of the table finish.

Romania have a reasonable chance of progressing considering their opposition ahead. Their first match pits them against Ukraine who recently progressed through the playoff matches. Ukraine had to compete against England and Italy in their Group which is most likely the reason they couldn’t secure automatic Qualification.

Romania then face their toughest fixture in the Group Stage. Belgium blitzed their Qualifying Group, winning six of their eight matches and going unbeaten. Belgium did however slump in their latest World Cup campaign, finishing bottom of the Group.

They then end their Group matches against Slovakia who flopped to third in their recent Nations League campaign but claimed second place behind Belgium in the Qualifying round.

Romania go into the competition as one of several least favourites and that comes as no surprise. However, their assets become much more attractive when weighing up the competition in their Group.

Romania also offer up something that not a lot of teams do, €4m players. €4m players are the ultimate enablers, helping to fund some of the more exciting assets in the game.

We open up our Romania account with their number one goalkeeper Horațiu Moldovan (€4m). Moldovan is one of very few €4m goalkeepers in the game which is a major selling point alone. Another Romanian defensive asset we could consider is Nicușor Bancu (€4m). Playing in the top tier Romania league Bancu had quite the season, producing a huge nine assists and two goals in 36 matches.

He also had a fantastic Nations League campaign between 2022-2024, scoring one goal and banking three assists in just five matches.

Bancu evidently has attacking potential but he also maintained an excellent rate of 6.3 ball recoveries per game. This type of number would provide him with an additional two points per match in EURO Fantasy.

Nicolae Stanciu

Heading into the midfield bracket our focus turns to the Romania attack. Although having sustained modest offensive numbers in recent competitions, Romania have several cheap assets to look at, one of them is Nicolae Stanciu (€5.5m).

Nicolae Stanciu has enjoyed a great personal season for Saudi club Damac. There he managed four goals and seven assists in 27 matches, impressive for a box to box midfielder.

For country, Nicolae Stanciu has multiple routes to points, from his corner taking and penalty duty to his impressive ball recovery rate and goal threat, Stanciu seems to be the complete package. Because of this, he is an easy addition amongst the EURO 2024 Fantasy Romania top picks.

One to Watch – Dennis Man

The Romania attack is somewhat of a minefield when it comes to minutes. Their frontline tends to be riddled with rotation, poor form and suspensions but our next pick avoids the majority of those.

Dennis Man comes in at a jaw-dropping €5m and as EURO Fantasy managers will know, it is extremely difficult finding a €5m forward. Although not a standard number nine, Man plays on the left and right-wing, such is his versatility.

In terms of his numbers, Man notched up 11 goals and six assists in just 32 Serie B matches for Parma last season. He has also been influential for country as well – scoring in both the recent Qualifiers and recent Nations League campaign.
