EURO 2024 Fantasy: Romania predicted line-up

With a summer footballing festival on the horizon, Fantasy Football Community is excited to be covering it in-depth. Up next, a look at the predicted line-up for Romania.

Not just names but also the rationale behind their inclusions. This could be helpful to Euro 2024 Fantasy managers, as Romania have the potential to emerge from an even-looking Group E.

With that in mind, knowing who’s likely to start for them could be hugely beneficial.

Romania: Predicted line-up v Ukraine

Note: This will be updated after the upcoming friendlies.

GOALKEEPER

Undefeated during qualifying, only Portugal kept more clean sheets than Romania’s six. Horatiu Moldovan (€4.0m) played all but the first couple of matches and comes at the lowest possible price for a stopper. He moved to Atletico Madrid in January.

DEFENDERS

Online experts have differing opinions on which attackers will begin in Munich but the back four seems to be unanimous.

It’s a settled quartet with bargain full-backs Andrei Ratiu (€4.0m) and Nicusor Bancu (€4.0m) surrounding a centre-back partnership that started each of the 10 qualifiers together. Spurs’ January arrival Radu Dragusin (€4.5m) and the same Andrei Burca (€4.5m) who made the most ball recoveries of all this summer’s competitors (73).

As impressive as Tricolorii were for clean sheets, it should be noted that just two of the 23 non-hosts allowed more efforts for opponents (102).

MIDFIELDERS

Captain Nicolae Stanciu (€5.5m) also started on all 10 occasions and dominates their set pieces. His 29 shots were only bettered by six others throughout the continent and two of his three goals came from outside of the box. This is important in a game that rewards such long-range strikes with an additional point.

Meanwhile, coach Edward Iordanescu sometimes opts for 4-1-4-1 rather than 4-2-3-1. Dennis Man (€5.0m) scored 11 times to help Parma win Serie B and is currently Romania’s only outfielder with at least 2% ownership but there’s a chance that Ianis Hagi (€6.0m) – son of the great Gheorghe – starts on the right instead.

It’s also a coin toss when estimating the other wing. Man’s former team-mate Florinel Coman (€6.0m) remains at FCSB, bagging 18 goals and 10 assists in a title-winning campaign. Yet current colleague Valentin Mihaila (€5.5m) has been a good impact sub, going on to start Tuesday’s friendly with Bulgaria.

FORWARDS

Furthermore, Denis Dragus (€5.5m) was tried up front but could easily be used on the left. Ex-Reading striker George Puscas (€5.0m) has a shout too but maybe there’ll be loyalty to the experienced Denis Alibec (€5.0m). He played and scored more often in qualifiers.
