EURO 2024 Fantasy Denmark Top Picks
In this article we take a look at the EURO 2024 Fantasy Denmark top picks. Here we touch upon the recent form of Denmark, how they achieved qualification, highlight their best picks, and anything else of relevance.
Our EURO 2024 Fantasy Denmark top picks could be crucial for managers. Knowing how a team has been performing recently can be helpful. But, knowing who the best picks from each team can be essential for the tournament ahead.
It was a torrid 2022 World Cup tournament for Denmark. The Danes crashed out of the competition after picking up just one point against France, Australia and Tunisia.
The recent Nations League was a great platform to bounce back in however. There they finished second, just one point behind Croatia but also a huge seven points ahead of France.
They continued that form in EURO Qualifying. As pictured below the Danes collected 22 points which, with the help of a better head-to-head record than Slovenia, saw them secure first place in the Group.
There they also scored 19 goals, an average of 1.9 goals per game, 10 goals conceded, one goal conceded per game on average and one clean sheet.
The friendlies after that didn’t offer up much additional knowledge after drawing to Switzerland and beating Faroe Islands. Although, they did however keep a clean sheet in each of those games.
EURO 2024 Fixtures
Interestingly, the first team they face in their EURO 2024 campaign is the same team they edged in the qualifiers. Slovenia won’t be easy opposition, they faced each other twice in Qualifying and the matches finished 1-1 and 2-1 to Denmark.
Denmark then go onto face one of the toughest teams on paper in the competition. England may have disappointed in their recent Nations League campaign, but they go into the EURO’ as favourites to win the entire thing.
The Danes finish their journey with a fixture against Serbia. Serbia recently finished rock bottom of their 2022 World Cup Group and second in their EURO Qualifying Group.
Top Picks – Alexander Bah
The Denmark defence is full of fantastic options to invest in. One of the cheapest routes into the backline could well be Alexander Bah (€4.5m).
Bah has been in and out of the Denmark XI due to injury over the last months. However, after recovering he could well cement his place at right-wing back in the upcoming tournament.
The Benfica man enjoyed a fruitful Champions League campaign in 22/23. There he created two assists and helped his side progress into the latter stages of the competition. This season for club he produced two goals and three assists in the league, adding to the assist he bagged in the three EURO Qualifying matches he featured in.
Bah has direct competition from Bologna wing-back Victor Kristiansen (€4.5m) who created three assists on the path to securing fifth place in Serie A and Champions League football for the 24/25 campaign. Monitoring the pre-EURO’ friendlies could be key, because if one consistently plays ahead of the other then he could be the pick to go for.
Joachim Maehle
Denmark have some great options at €5m. The likes of Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen who banked two goals and two assists for club last season and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel should both be considered.
However, it could be unwise to rule out Joachim Maehle (€5.5m). His price-tag may be slightly off-putting but it could be worth highlighting how much potential he has.
Denmark are likely to play with a back-three system which would allow Maehle into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch. Below is a perfect example of his positioning. We can see that Maehle spent more time in his opponents half than his own during the Qualifiers.
His output is even more promising. In his 2021 EURO campaign he registered two assists and one goal in just three games. He then went onto produced three assists in six Nations League matches. In his EURO Qualifiers he continued his impressive offensive form with two goals and one assist in eight games.
Maehle may be pricier than his defensive teammates, but with clean sheet and offensive potential, he could also be the most explosive.
Christian Eriksen
It has been a tough season for Christian Eriksen (€7m). The Manchester United midfielder has struggled to maintain both gametime and output, which is slightly concerning coming into the competition.
That may be the case but Eriksen is a different player for his country. As well as dominating set pieces for Denmark, which gives him more routes, he also claimed one goal and three assists in his six EURO Qualifying matches.
Eriksen remains a talismanic figure for Denmark and we can see that from his set-plays and goal contributions. With that in mind, Eriksen squeezes into the EURO 2024 Fantasy Denmark top picks.
Rasmus Højlund
Leading the Danish frontline is striker Rasmus Højlund (€7.5m). Rasmus Højlund faired much better than his teammate at Manchester United last season. There he scored 10 goals and registered two assists in the league but also an impressive five goals in his six Champions League matches.
Rasmus Højlund wasn’t just relentless for his club in Europe but also in his recent Qualifiers for country. In fact, in the eight matches he played he scored a huge seven goals, contributing to an eighth with an assist. He is also the top candidate for penalty duty in the upcoming matches.
Rasmus Højlund seems to perform better on the bigger stages rather than in the domestic league. With big games coming up, we should see that same relentless form mentioned above.
One to Watch – Jonas Wind
It could be wise to at least monitor Jonas Wind (€7m). Wind will likely partner Rasmus Højlund in the Denmark attack and whilst Højlund has been fantastic, Wind also has also been brilliant for both club and country.
Wind netted 11 goals and produced seven assists last season in the Bundesliga, totalling to 18 returns in 38 matches. He also started seven and featured in 10 of Denmark’ recent EURO Qualifiers in which he collected three goals and four assists.
Wind is evidently effective as both a goal scorer and creator, which could mean his potential to haul is even higher in the games ahead.
