EURO 2024 Fantasy Albania Top Picks

In this article we take a look at the EURO 2024 Fantasy Albania top picks. Here we touch upon the recent form of Albania, how they achieved qualification, highlight their best picks, and anything else of relevance.

Our EURO 2024 Fantasy Albania top picks could be crucial for managers. Knowing how a team has been performing recently can be helpful. But, knowing who the best picks from each team can be essential for the tournament ahead.

Albania’ rise may well have kick-started in 2020 during their League C Group 4 campaign. There they topped the Group with 11 points to gain promotion with three wins, two draws and one loss.

They were then tested with tougher opposition in the World Cup Qualifiers. Although short of qualification Albania finished third in the Group, just two points behind Poland but one point ahead of Hungary.

Fast forward to their EURO Qualifying campaign and those improvements translated into success. As we can see, Albania topped their Group ahead of Czech and the Poland side they fell short of in World Cup Qualifiers some years ago.

The success pictured above was helped by 12 goals scored, 1.5 goals scored per game on average, four goals conceded, 0.5 goals conceded per game on average and four clean sheets.

Albania’ performances have however dropped off recently. In fact, they failed to win any of their last four matches, scoring just one goal and conceding five goals in the process.

EURO 2024 Fixtures

Albania could have a tough road ahead. Their opening fixture sees them clash with an Italy side who recently topped their Nations League Group involving Hungary, Germany and England.

They then go onto face Croatia. Croatia remain a very competitive tournament side after claiming third place in the 2022 World Cup and runner-up in the 2023 Nations League final.

Albania end their Group Stage with a meeting against recent Nations League winners Spain.

Top Picks – Etrit Berisha

Albania have an extremely tough Group which makes their defensive assets much less appealing. However, they do have one asset who holds an edge over most other goalkeepers in the game.

Finding cheap players could be vital to enabling the more pricier options within our teams. For that reason fantasy managers are always on the lookout for €4m goalkeepers, which is exactly what our next pick offers.

Although Thomas Strakosha (€4m) played some of Albania’ recent matches, 35-year-old Etrit Berisha (€4m) should start between the sticks. Berisha is a fan favourite and played a key role in the Qualifying round.

Elseid Hysaj

Some may be concerned about the goalkeeper situation but still want to invest in the Albania backline. If that is the case then look no further than their right-back.

Elseid Hysaj (€4.5m) has featured at the highest level of club football with Italian club Lazio. Hysaj helped his team reach second place during the 22/23 Serie A campaign and contributed to the mammoth 21 clean sheets they kept.

Hysaj also played a crucial role in Albania’ top of the Group finish in Qualifying. As well as creating an assist Hysaj amassed a massive 6.7 ball recoveries per game. This is something he is likely to either match or better with tougher opposition ahead.

For the reasons above, Hysaj sneaks his way into the EURO 2024 Fantasy Albania top picks.

Jasir Asani

Managers looking for an even cheaper forward option could opt for teammate Jasir Asani (€5.5m).

Although short of penalty taking duty, Asani has a share of both corners and free kicks which provides owners with additional routes to points.

Asani played a huge role amongst the goals in the EURO Qualifiers – scoring three and creating two assists. We can also see how important he is for Albania in that he started eight of their Qualifying matches.

One to Watch – Nedim Bajrami

One player we should keep close tabs on is midfielder Nedim Bajrami (€6m).

The Sassuolo midfielder failed to keep his Serie A club Sassuolo from the drop last season. But, he did score two goals and register two assists in the time he did play.

It is fair to say that Bajrami is much more prolific for country though, after picking up three goals and one assist in the seven EURO Qualifying matches he started.
