EFL Fantasy: Championship Teams with the Best Fixtures to Start the Season

Last modified date

EURO 2024 is already coming to a close and English League football is just on the horizon. English sides will be hoping to start the 24/25 season well so with that in mind we take a look at the Championship teams with the best fixtures to start the season.

Knowing the Championship teams with the best fixtures to start the season could be crucial for fantasy managers. EFL recently announced that there would be a new fantasy game based on the Championship, League One and League Two so being prepared could be a wise move.

Coventry

Coventry failed to meet expectations in the league last season after finishing 9th. Although just short of an FA Cup final after losing on penalties to Manchester United they finished their campaign nine points off the play-off places.

Starting off their 24/25 season Coventry come up against Stoke who finished 17th last time out. They then go onto play newly promoted Oxford United, Bristol City, Norwich and Watford. All teams listed are opposition Coventry will feel they can get points from.

Luton

Luton were the surprise package amongst the promoted teams in the Premier League last season. Although the Hatters finished the season 18th they also picked up a huge 10 more points than fellow promoted side Sheffield United.

Hoping to make an immediate bounce back up to the top tier Luton have an opening matche against heavyweights Burnley. Although their first match of the 24/25 season will be testing to say the least Luton then have fixtures against Portsmouth, Preston, QPR, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth and Oxford United.

Middlesborough

Middlesbrough were another side who fell short of expectations last season. Michael Carrick’ men managed five wins in their final 10 matches but it wasn’t enough. Middlesbrough secured a ninth place finish but their 69 points were just four points short of making the play-off places.

Hoping to at least make the play-offs in the season ahead Middlesbrough start their new campaign against Swansea. Meetings with promoted side Derby, Portsmouth, Cardiff and Preston follow their opener and fans will expect a winning mentality going into all of them.

West Brom

West Brom were one of few Championship teams who performed as well as many expected. The Baggies won 21 of their 46 matches to eventually secure a play-off place. Unfortunately once there West Brom fell short against Southampton.

An opening match against QPR could bring about their first win of the 24/25 campaign for West Brom. Although going on to face Leeds after that matches against Stoke, Swansea, Portsmouth, Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday then follow.
