Gameweek 3 Team Reveal

Notes

  • It’s been a slow start to my FPL season but GW2 went reasonably well. My team scored 75 points, thanks in no small part to captain Erling Haaland’s hat-trick and clean sheets from all three of my defenders. Although, my midfielders continue to pose problems.
  • Despite my midfield issues, I’m not currently planning any changes this week. Ebereche Eze and Bruno Fernandes’ underlying numbers are strong and are going nowhere despite recent blanks. I’ve already absorbed Christopher Nkunku’s price drop. I’d also prefer to go into GW4 with two free transfers if possible, in order to easily switch between premium players (e.g. bring in Cole Palmer or Mohamed Salah) if needed.
  • Dean Henderson will line up in goal once again then. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ezri Konsa, Pedro Porro and Antonee Robinson sit across the back line, all of whom play away from home this week.
  • In midfield, Nkunku makes way in anticipation of another Europa Conference League start and weekend benching, with only Eze, Fernandes and vice-captain Bukayo Saka making the starting XI. Nkunku will be my transfer out should any other issues with my team arise ahead of the deadline.
  • Upfront, all three of my forwards – Haaland, Alexander Isak and João Pedro start this week. The Manchester City forward is my frontrunner for captaincy this week.
  • While Aston Villa have favourable upcoming fixtures, I’m not prepared to pull the trigger on Isak to Ollie Watkins just yet. Newcastle have OK short-term fixtures themselves, while Isak himself is only behind Haaland this week in terms of goalscoring probability.
