Monday 23 May rumours
Fabrizio Romano: Marcos Alonso in advanced talks with Barcelona
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso is determined to return to Spain. Personal terms are believed to be at an advanced stage, although a fee will need agreeing with the Blues.
FPL Comment: Recent months have seen FPL managers rekindle their past love for Alonso. At his peak, 30 attacking returns arrived during the three seasons between 2016 and 2019. So his potential departure would be emotional for many.
Daily Mirror: Aurelien Tchouameni to choose between Liverpool and Real Madrid
£67m is the supposed transfer fee for Monaco midfielder Tchouameni, with Real Madrid determined to seal this deal following their Kylian Mbappe disappointment.
FPL Comment: So it might not just be the Champions League up for grabs between these teams. Tchouameni was voted the Ligue 1 young player of last season and named in the league XI this time around. It would remain to be seen whether he’d be a good FPL asset.
The Athletic: Now safe, Leeds will buy Brenden Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg
Leeds are looking to quickly begin their summer business by sealing a $28 million move for attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson. The 21-year-old moved to Salzburg to play under fellow American Jesse Marsch, only to see his boss move to RB Leipzig.
FPL Comment: With Premier League survival secured, Leeds desperately need to strengthen their squad. Failed January bids for Aaronson didn’t deter them from trying again. His four goals and five assists from this season don’t particularly stand out.
