Community Team Reveal Gameweek 37 – FPL Shake n Bake

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 37, it’s the turn of FPL Shake n Bake (Brett) to tell us what he is doing to his team.

Hi Brett and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 36 go?

I went into the week with a four-point hit which just about paid off. Nick Pope came in for David Raya, and Alexis Mac Allister replaced team-mate March. With 51 points from Pope and my back three, I was on for a decent Gameweek… until the dagger to my heart from my everlasting love Callum Wilson.

I couldn’t get him in my team and already had Alexander Isak, so I was gambling on Wilson staying quiet. He didn’t, so I ended up with a 20k red arrow, with 95 points dropping me to 260k overall, as lots of people around me seemed to benefit from autosubs.

What does your defence look like?

I bought Pope because I prefer Newcastle’s final fixtures. He’ll now stay in goal, keeping Keylor Navas glued to the bench. I couldn’t have asked for much more from my defence last week, with Pervis Estupinan, Kieran Trippier and Trent Alexander-Arnold all getting double digits. Luke Shaw delivered eight points on my bench.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

Brighton duo Alexis Mac Allister and Kaoru Mitoma are staying due to Double Gameweek 37 but the team’s form is all over the place. Alongside them, I have Jack Grealish, Mohamed Salah and Marcus Rashford, who kept his place last week despite the injury. Today’s news of his illness is making me question whether to persist with him. Up front, I have Scandinavian duo Erling Haaland and Isak, alongside the Julian Alvarez gamble of a few weeks ago. That’s not paid off so far but I still live in hope.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 37 and beyond?

The Rashford illness has me stumped. I’m in favour of keeping him, especially as I already have a benching headache where two doublers currently are. I really like these two Man United fixtures, as well as Fulham (h) on the final day, so will bring in Raphael Varane for Alex Moreno. The Frenchman made his comeback from injury last week and played 80 minutes as they kept a clean sheet.

Finally, what about captaincy?

It has to be Haaland. There’s certainly a risk that he’ll be rested for one of the games – maybe both if Arsenal slip up and Man City are already crowned champions before facing Chelsea – but I can’t not give FPL’s highest-scoring player the armband when he has a Double Gameweek.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
