Community Team Reveal Gameweek 32 – Marc Jobling
Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.
Ahead of Gameweek 32, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling tell us what he is doing to his team.
Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 31 go?
It was another week of little movement, dropping from 65k to 69k after not owning the late haul of Mohamed Salah. He was the only real problem from elsewhere, it’s just that I had very little beyond the highly-owned 40 points from captain Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins.
New signing Jack Grealish bagged an assist but Bukayo Saka missed a penalty.
What does your defence look like?
Like many, it’s my Free Hit week! Defensive options aren’t great though, especially if you don’t like doubling up on the same backline. Beyond Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier, the only appealing options are to get Andrew Robertson or cover Arsenal but we only have a maximum of three players per team.
I currently have Alex Moreno because he’s very attacking but I don’t think he’ll clean sheet. Same for goalkeeper David Raya, picked purely for the high ownership of Brentford’s defence. Having fear factor into a Free Hit isn’t recommended but – at the very least – I want to prevent a red arrow.
Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?
Unfortunately, I’ve done the same with Harry Kane. Braver managers will instead go for Dominic Solanke or Alexander Isak, possibly Ivan Toney, but I simply think Kane will score past a Newcastle defence with just one clean sheet in ten.
Salah in as captain is obvious, just like choosing in-form Watkins. I’m currently on three Arsenal attackers but am aware that Southampton have fairly recently collected clean sheets away to Man United and Chelsea. Saka is a constant letdown but it’s great to have Gabriel Martinelli back, with Gabriel Jesus a differential to the masses.
Yet my late doubt is over Cody Gakpo. I wrote a piece for Scout a few days ago on Liverpool assets and had the attitude that Jurgen Klopp won’t rotate a line-up that just won 6-1. However, they face West Ham and Spurs in the following week, so maybe Klopp will.
Perhaps Gakpo moves to ultra-differential Jordan Ayew, with Robertson my new third defender.
So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 33 and beyond?
With my regular team, the intention is to roll the Gameweek 33 transfer and have two for Double Gameweek 34. At that point, Salah comes in and either Kane or Watkins is sacrificed.
Opting to keep Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw now looks like a rare good decision.
Finally, what about captaincy?
Oh it’s Mo, absolutely. Nottingham Forest have just five goals and six points from 15 away games, with most chances conceded down their left flank – the side of Salah.
