Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.
Ahead of Gameweek 18 it’s the turn of FPL ElStatto to tell us what he is doing to his team.
Hi ElStatto and thanks for the team reveal. So what was your Gameweek 17 strategy?
My aim with the period of unlimited free transfers was to then roll the Gameweek 18 transfer, to give two for Gameweek 19. With the news that Callum Wilson is likely to be a substitute at best, I was tempted to sell him but have decided to bench him instead.
What does your defence look like?
I’ve gone for a double Newcastle defence against Leeds. They are a tough side at home and, with Kieran Trippier offering assists and bonus points too, I’m hopeful of a good return. Joao Cancelo at home to Everton should offer a good chance for points too.
Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?
I’ve brought Andreas Pereira in from the bench to replace Wilson this week, as they are at home to a poor Southampton. Additionally, Marcus Rashford, Gabriel Martinelli, Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin De Bruyne all offer superb potential for goals and assists, with favourable games.
In attack, it’s Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez for me. The latter is so frustrating to own but I’m happy to give it a couple of weeks. He gets the chances but is finishing them poorly – you feel he has a haul inside of him, it’s just when.
Finally, what about captaincy?
Barring any injury, I’ll be going with Haaland again. He’s a machine and this season reminds me of a few years back when Mohammed Salah was a perma-captain.
Overall, I have high hopes of for Gameweek 18, which will probably mean plenty of rotation and blanks are incoming!
