Community Team Reveal Gameweek 17 – FPL Inzaghi

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 17, it’s the turn of FPL Inzaghi (Ryan) to tell us what he is doing to his team.

Merry Christmas and thanks for the team reveal. So how did the first half of your season go?

I go into Gameweek 17 ranked around 151k, so I feel nicely positioned to attack the second half of the season and aim for a top 10k finish.

With unlimited free transfers, what does your defence look like?

Firstly, I should caveat this time by saying the team is subject to change! Defence is the area of my squad I’m most confident in.

Reece James, Kieran Trippier and Joao Cancelo are locked as my back three, alongside Ben White and either Nathan Patterson or Hugo Bueno. In goal, I’m on the popular Kepa Arrizabalaga and Danny Ward pair.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

Mohamed Salah vs Kevin De Bruyne is one debate that I’m yet to settle. I think Salah is probably my preferred option but a £0.2m saving whilst knowing that selecting KDB now potentially saves me one transfer down the line means I’m currently starting with the Belgian.

Phil Foden’s expected minutes are unreliable and I want three Man City guys heading into their Double Gameweeks. Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli remain in my team – the former is at a price point that allows later moves to Foden, Mason Mount or Dejan Kulusevski.

Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard is a surprise pick but, with a Brighton Double Gameweek likely, I’m keen to have him. The best fifth midfielder is Andreas Pereira and I’ve had him since the start.

Only four players are being considered up front: Erling Haaland is locked, plus Darwin Nunez, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Anthony Martial. I like the strategy of starting with Martial for Nottingham Forest and Wolves before moving to Mitro’s Double Gameweek, assuming he’s not suspended.

Darwin is a nice option too – especially if I start without Salah, as it gives me some Liverpool attacking coverage. However, his price restricts my options elsewhere.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!

No problem. I’ll update my team on Twitter and on my YouTube channel – give me a follow, I’d love to meet you and chat FPL!
