Team Overview
Palmeiras qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2021 Copa Libertadores. They secured this title with a 2–1 victory over Flamengo in the final, held in Montevideo, Uruguay. This achievement granted them one of CONMEBOL’s six slots in the expanded 32-team tournament.
After just 10 matches in the Brasileiro Serie A, Palmeiras top league with 22 points. This was due to seven wins, one draw and just two losses. During that time they also scored 11 goals, conceded six and kept just four clean sheets.
The Brazilian side head into the competition as the best performing side in Brazil, but who are they facing?
Group and Fixtures
The likes of FC Porto (POR), Al Ahly FC (EGY), and Inter Miami CF (USA) join Palmeiras in Group A. Palmeiras toughest opposition are Porto, a side they are slight favourites to win against.
Bookies odds also favour the Brazilian side to see off both Al Ahly and Inter Miami, even with the latter playing at home.
Palmeiras look set to win their group, so they could be well worth investment from a fantasy perspective, but who is likely to start for them?

Top Picks
One of the cheapest routes into the backline is goalkeeper Weverton (€4.9m). Right-back/right centre-back Giay (€4.4m) could however be the cheapest. Giay does lack attacking threat though, and he’s also less nailed for minutes than standout option Joaquín Piquerez (€5.9m).
Joaquín Piquerez offers more than his defensive teammates from an attacking perspective. The fact he has netted two goals in his domestic league, and one goal and one assist in just four CONMEBOL Libertadores matches this season reflects that. Piquerez can usually plays as a left-back in a back-four and left wing-back in a back-five.
What gives Piquerez even more appeal is that he also takes free kicks and penalties for his side, which gives him even more routes to points.
In attack, 18-year-old in-game forward Estêvão (€5.5m) is the standout option. As well as taking a share of penalties, free kicks and corners, which already offers huge potential, the youngster has also produced an impressive five goals and four assists in his previous 10 matches.
Last season domestically, the then 17-year-old hit 13 goals and nine assists in just 31 Brasileirao Betano league matches. There are some other options for Club World Cup Fantasy managers to consider though.
In-game midfielder Maurício (€5.4m) comes in slightly cheaper. Whilst his teammate can only pick up additional points from two shots on target (+1), Maurício has potential via two chances created (+1) and three tackles (+1). The Brazilian also takes a share of corners which boosts his appeal.
