Club World Cup Fantasy 2025: Mamelodi Sundowns Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview

Club World Fantasy 2025 is here! Continuing with our team previews, we take a look at the Mamelodi Sundowns FC best picks, predicted line-up and team overview.
Knowing how a team could line-up and their best assets could be absolutely key for success in Club World Cup Fantasy. To help with this we brought in fan @ZBayant.
Team Overview

Mamelodi Sundowns qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by being one of the top-performing African teams over a four-year stretch in the CAF Champions League, from 2021 to 2024.
Rather than qualifying through a single tournament win, they earned their spot based on consistent results during that period, ranking as the second-best African club under CAF’s points-based system. This system was used to allocate Africa’s four places in the expanded 32-team tournament.
The South African side had a fantastic 23/24 campaign in which they won the league by 23 points. The current season has seen that top form continue – perched top of the league and 12 points clear of second place Orlando Pirates.
Recent form has been mixed for them. Although they won all four of their last league games, they drew and lost one of their CAF Champions League legs against Egyptian side Pyramids.
Group and Fixtures
Mamelodi Sundowns play in Group F with Fluminense FC (BRA), Borussia Dortmund (GER) and Ulsan HD (KOR).

Their upcoming matches are as follows:
- Matchday 1 – Ulsan HD
- Matchday 2 – Dortmund
- Matchday 3 – Fluminense
Sundowns best chance of picking up points comes in Matchday 1. Ulsan HD will be tough competition for the South African side, and they go into that tie as underdogs.
They then come up against Dortmund and Fluminense, who could pose too big of a challenge.

Top Picks
Investing in Sundowns from a defensive perspective, or at all, may be slightly unappealing. But, for those that really want to, the lack of attacking threat among the defenders could mean going as cheap as possible. To do that we could opt for centre-back Grant Kekana (€4.2m).
Experienced football fans may also recognise Ronwen Williams (€5m). Williams is one of Africa’ best goalkeepers, but he comes in too expensive when considering his potential.

In attack there are several options you could look to. Midfielder Lucas Ribeiro Costa (€5.7m) is one of those. Costa takes penalties, free-kicks and corners, so has multiple routes to points in any given game. The Brazilian also goes into the Club World Cup off the back of scoring four goals and creating two assists in his previous six outings.
Striker Iqraam Rayners (€5.8m) could be another great option. Rayners is also in good form – with an impressive six goals and one assist in his last eight fixtures, and is crucial to the Sundowns attack.
There we have it, our Mamelodi Sundowns Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview. Will you be picking any of their players?
