Team Overview
Bayern Munich qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup based on their strong performances in European competitions over the past few years. Rather than needing to win the Champions League, they earned their spot through UEFA’s club ranking system, which looks at results from the 2021 to 2024 seasons.
Bayern consistently performed well in this period, making them one of the top-ranked European clubs eligible for the tournament.
This will be Bayern’s third appearance at the Club World Cup, having previously lifted the trophy in both 2013 and 2020.
In general Bayern had a very strong season – seeing off title rivals Leverkusen to secure the Bundesliga, whilst also progressing to but being knocked out by Inter in the Champions League quarter-finals.
During the league campaign Bayern averaged a huge 2.9 goals scored per game. They also banked a solid 16 clean sheets, showing that they can both be a major goal threat and defend well.
So what of their most recent form? Well the Bavarians ended their 24/25 season with four wins and two draws. During that period they netted a huge 18 goals – averaging close to three goals scored. That was accompanied with four clean sheets.
Group and Fixtures
Bayern meet with Benfica (POR), Auckland City FC (NZL) and CA Boca Juniors (ARG) in Group C.
Their upcoming schedule looks like this:
- Matchday 1 – Auckland City
- Matchday 2 – Boca Juniors
- Matchday 3 – Benfica
Bayern head into their first round against Auckland as certain favourites. A meeting between one of Europe’ best clubs and a amateur club could end in a cricket score.
The German giants are also heavy favourites to win against Boca Juniors. Whilst they are much stronger than Auckland City, they should still lose to Bayern comfortably.
Bayern’ toughest group stage game is against Benfica. Benfica have proven to be tough opposition for some of the best sides in Europe, but the Bavarians are still favourites going into the match.

Top Picks
Based on their defensive form and group fixtures, CWC Fantasy managers could well fancy a Bayern defensive asset. I wouldn’t pick goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (€5.6m) as he is expensive and does not tend to get a lot of save points.
However, I would opt for Dayot Upamecano (€5.6m) as he is reliable for minutes. Full-back Adam Aznou (€4m) could become a bargain option if we get an indication that he gets a chance at LB, which is not unlikely.
Bayern have been relentless offensively, so investing in their attack with their upcoming fixtures could be seen as essential for CWC Fantasy managers.
In midfield, Michael Olise (€9.4m) is the standout. Interestingly, the Frenchman was the highest scoring player in Bundesliga Fantasy for the 24/25 campaign. This was largely due to the fact he produced a massive 12 goals and 15 assists in just 34 matches. He also ended the season with four goals and five assists in his final five Bundesliga matches.
Another great option in midfield could be Jamal Musiala (€9.2m). Although slightly cheaper but less consistent, Musiala hit 12 goals and two assists in 25 Bundesliga matches. Musiala has been fairly injury prone this season so be cautious if selecting him.
Another major standout among the Bayern frontline is penalty taker and striker Harry Kane (€11m). Kane also enjoyed a scintillating campaign – racking up 26 goals and eight assists in 31 Bundesliga matches, along with 11 goals and two assists in 13 Champions League matches.
