Club World Cup Fantasy 2025: Atletico Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview

Club World Fantasy 2025 is here! Continuing with our team previews, we take a look at the Atletico best picks, predicted line-up and team overview.
Knowing how a team could line-up and their best assets could be absolutely key for success in Club World Cup Fantasy, so let’s get into it.
Team Overview

Atlético Madrid earned their place in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup through UEFA’s club ranking system. Unlike some teams that qualified by winning the Champions League, Atlético booked their spot by consistently performing well in European competitions over a four-year span (2021–2024).
During this period, they made multiple deep runs in the Champions League, including reaching the quarter-finals twice. These steady results helped them build up enough ranking points to finish among the top UEFA clubs that didn’t win the tournament itself.
UEFA was granted 12 places for the Club World Cup — four for the Champions League winners from 2021 to 2024, and eight for the highest-ranked non-winners. Atlético Madrid qualified as one of those top-ranked teams.
One key rule from FIFA is that no more than two clubs from the same country can qualify via the rankings, unless they won the Champions League. Since Real Madrid were already in as Champions League winners, AtlĂ©tico’s ranking secured Spain’s second and final spot – meaning Barcelona missed out, despite their domestic success.
In terms of form, Atletico had a reasonably good campaign last season – finishing third in La Liga and progressing to the round of 16 in the Champions League. They ended their season strongly though – with four wins, one loss and one draw. During that period they scored 15 goals, conceded just three and kept an impressive four clean sheets.
Atletico head into the Club World Cup in good form, but who are they facing off against?
Group and Fixtures
Atletico join Paris Saint-Germain (FRA), Botafogo (BRA) and Seattle Sounders FC (USA) in Group B.

The Spanish side will play their opposition in the following schedule:
- Matchday 1 – PSG
- Matchday 2 – Seattle Sounders
- Matchday 3 – Botafogo
Atletico head into Matchday 1 against European Champions PSG as underdogs, so their potential will be limited.
However, they then go onto face Seattle Sounders and Botafogo, two sides Atletico are predicted to beat.
Predicted line-up

Note: Expect severe rotation during the competition from Atletico. The manager was not shy in making full sale changes throughout their campaign.

Top Picks
Picking out a defensive asset that will start every game is a difficult task for anyone. The Spanish side consistently rotate their backline which makes it near impossible to trust any of their goalkeeper or defender picks.
For those adamant in their choice to back a Atletico defender then they have an array of options including goalkeeper Jan Oblak (€5.5m) and centre-back JosĂ© MarĂa GimĂ©nez (€5.2m), who is slightly cheaper than his teammate.

Looking into the attack, things appear a little more stable, only slightly though. Their standout attacker is of course penalty taker Julian Alvarez (€9m). The Argentine has been instrumental in his sides success this season – scoring a huge seven goals in just 10 Champions League matches, whilst also racking up 17 goals and four assists in La Liga.
Club World Cup Fantasy managers could also opt for fellow in-game forward Antoine Griezmann (€8.5m). Although slightly cheaper than his teammate, the Frenchman has been less consistent. He does however take set pieces which boosts his overall appeal. Griezmann also impressed in the Champions League too – his six goals and two assists in 10 matches reflects that.
There we have it, our Atletico Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview. Will you be picking any of their players?
