Team Overview
Al-Ain qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2023–24 AFC Champions League. The UAE-based club had an impressive campaign, showcasing a mix of attacking flair and tactical discipline throughout the tournament.
In the final, Al-Ain defeated Yokohama F. Marinos of Japan with a dominant second-leg performance. After losing 2–1 in the first leg, they came back strongly at home, winning 5–1 in the return leg, securing a 6–3 aggregate victory. Key players like Soufiane Rahimi and Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba played pivotal roles in their success, with Rahimi being one of the tournament’s standout performers.
The UAE side finished third in their 23/24 season – a huge 22 points off top spot. They then finished fifth in the following campaign. They did however finish their previous season with four wins and two draws, so they head into the upcoming competition in fairly good form.
Group and Fixtures
Al-Ain clash with Manchester City (ENG), Wydad AC (MAR), and Juventus FC (ITA) in Group G.
Their schedule is as follows:
- Matchday 1 – Juventus
- Matchday 2 – Manchester City
- Matchday 3 – Wydad AC
Al-Ain head into Matchday 1 and 2 as underdogs, so are expected to lose both matches.
Their best opportunity to pick up points could be Matchday 3 where they face Wydad AC. It won’t be easy though, the game could well go way either according to the odds.

Top Picks
It could be limiting to pick a Al-Ain defensive player due to their fixtures, but for those that still want to select one, there are several options.
New signing and goalkeeper Rui Patrício (€5m) looks set to start for them, so he could be an option. The 37-year-old veteran has played for teams including Roma, Atalanta and Wolves over the years – proving his shot stopping capabilities.
One player who looks certain to start for the Al-Ain is left-back-left wing-back Erik (€4.9m). The Brazilian managed five assists in his final 10 matches of his recent league campaign, which shows he has plenty of attacking threat.
In midfield, the standout could be Alejandro Romero (€5.6m). As well as taking a share of free-kicks and corners, which suggests he has multiple routes to points, he also racked up six goals and nine assists in his latest league season.
Up front, Soufiane Rahimi (€6m) is another great picks. The top scorer of the AFC Champions League 2024 is a player who turns up in the big games when the pressure is high. Rahhimi bagged 11 goals in 24/25 UAE Pro League.
Another good pick would be penalty taker Kodjo Laba (€6.2m). He scored a huge 20 league goals in 21 appearances recently.
