Here’s the side we will be lining up with in Fanteam’s €100,000 Champions League Fantasy game. It’s a 3-4-3 as we chase the goals, with some big names included in there too. It was important to have a smattering of attackers from Manchester City and Liverpool: Salah and De Bruyne are favoured here. Sterling was considered from Manchester City, but after De Bruyne was benched against Norwich, he seemed safer for a start here. Shakhtar look to be an easy opponent. Given the injury doubts surrounding headline players Neymar and Messi, it’s Ronaldo who we splash the big cash on. It’s a tricky opener against Athletico Madrid. It’s a double up on the Liverpool defence early on, with Adrian being budget friendly and Robertson a safe route for the full-back slot: Alexander-Arnold is more likely to see rotation. Adrian is a short-term pick until Alisson returns from injury, with Sa covering from the bench and two matchweek transfers providing more flexibility compared to FPL formats. Martens and Fati make up the front line: youngster Fati has lit up La Liga at just 16 years of age and could become the youngest goalscorer in UCL history. Lucas and Modric will be key men in midfield: Lucas Moura hasn’t seen many minutes in the Premier League and could be pivotal for Spurs as they look to go one better from last years final and win the tournament this season. The Defence is complete with Sule who offers a budget route into the solid Bayern Munich defence and Gosens as a potential differential. That left minimal funds for the bench of Latimer, Orban and Zhidogyadov who hopefully won’t be needed too often.€100,000 Tournament Game
